Conrad POV

This is the most important meeting of my life. I have already decided that I don’t care if I die during this war. Lewana is so strong and resilient that she can make it without me, and my pups will continue the lineage. Donovan was right about two things. I’m irrelevant during this war, and she is everything.

Prince Eli is the first to start talking. “What’s the plan so far?”

“For the next three nights, the pack will sleep in the pack house. The wolves will be guarding this with the humans. Eli, if you agree, the Phoenix’s will man the border. Your warriors will patrol in bird form, allowing you to sound the alert when we are attacked without being noticed. Sirens and Facs man the lake and forest to feed information back to us so we can work out what location we need to attack. Once we have a direction, team one of all groups will go on the attack while others stay to defend. The main target will be Malik, so if anyone can take him out, they do it“.

The whole room slowly nods.

Aalto asks, “Do we have any idea what direction he is coming from or where he currently is? Maybe we could take the fight to him“.

“We do not. And if we leave to find him and he attacks, everyone here would be at a disadvantage “.

“He is most likely coming from the east, though“. I turn and see Agent Carter look a bit smug.

I look at him, confused. “And how can you be so sure of that?”

“When Liam told me of the murdered humans, I looked into it. Three women, first blonde and the other two brunette, went missing from a town East of here. Doesn’t mean he won’t change direction, but if he wants to attack tomorrow night, he will have to travel fast. I have night stalker monitoring cameras and satellite feed for any signs now that we have a verified ID of him“.

Lewana agrees with him. “We know he has been surveilling us, and that is where the open plains are, so it will be easier to attack from that direction“.

Wow. So not only did Nightstalker agree to work with them. I never even considered that Agent Carter could provide intel from the human world. I just saw them as weaker in this battle, but I should have remembered human strength and determination from my soldier days.

Rose joins in next. “What about weaponry. Faes don’t have much?”

Agent Carter speaks to her. “We can help with that as well. I can have crates of guns air–dropped. Also, since the night of the Gala, we have had silver bullets made in a secret factory. Can have 250,000 here in a few hours. We also developed Wolfbane gas canisters“.

I forgot how inventive humans can be.

I turn to Lewana. “Can you vaccinate all our soldiers today?”

She just nods.

Aalto looks more concerned. “We have never used guns as we use the water. We will have to develop some strategies with your wolves, Conrad, so we can have practice and my warriors know what they are up against“.

“What about you? Your Moon Essence? Is there anything we can do to protect that?“.

The entire room goes still. Aalto speaks first. “What is Moon Essence?”

“I have no idea?”

Eli tries to answer. “It’s probably the same as Sun essence in a way. As Sirens and Faes were made, they have a different form of power. Phoenixes and Werewolves were born from Gods, meaning we have the literal essence of them in our being. I would have to do some research to find out how you would remove it“.

I shrug it off. “There is no time for that. What would happen if the shadows did get it out of me?“.

Eli looked uncomfortable for a moment. “It means they have a direct channel to the Moon Goddess herself and can use the Moon Essence to corrupt her with shadow as her kin would be corrupted“.

I just look confused. “That makes no sense. We know my family tree, and many have been corrupted by shadows“.

“Affected, yes. Corrupted, no. From everything you have told us previously about Malik, he has traded part of his soul for shadow power, meaning it is now a part of him like the moon is a part of you. If he takes your Moon Essence, he can use that, and Lewana’s power to take the shadows directly to her realm“.

I instantly panic as I only have one thing on my mind. “What about my pups? Will they be safe?“.

He gave a grim shake of his head, and I knew before he spoke. “The Moon Essence runs in the pups as they are your lineage, but by having a corrupted version, it means shadows can corrupt them as well“.

I can feel the fear spike in Lewana and pull her close, and I place a hand on her belly. I can help but hold her tightly despite the audience.

“I just want to say thank you to you all. I know you didn’t have to come here to help us..

Aalto interrupts. “Yes, we did. She isn’t just your Moonlight. She is all of our protection, and the first time in two centuries we have had a chance to really push back against the shadows. This is for all of us“.

I end the meeting, and we all head out to do our respective tasks. We now only have five hours til nightfall and potentially prepare for an attack tonight.
