Many artists often came here to practice. Those who didn’t belong to the company could also rent the space for practice.
After marrying Maxwell, Stephanie stopped her career. Her daily routine mostly revolved around three things.
First, she had to look after Maxwell’s grandparents and keep them
company.
Second, she had to manage Maxwell’s personal schedule and handle many confidential documents for the Humphrey Group in collaboration with the secretarial team.
Especially after the downfall of the Shelton family, the Humphrey Group had taken over all of its affairs. To this day, a department within the group still managed the affairs it had acquired back then.
Even though the personnel and systems had changed since the Shelton family collapsed, Stephanie still handled those matters with ease.
Third, she regularly came to the Conway Entertainment training building. She claimed that she only came to practice because of her habit as a musician.
But in reality, Stephanie was recording demo tracks under her stage name, Daphne.
So her frequent visits to this building raised no suspicion.
To prepare for dance/practice, she tied up her hair and wore her usual training outfit. It was supposed to be just a usual day.

Yet what she didn’t notice was that someone was watching her from
outside.
Stephanie tried out several routines but wasn’t satisfied with any of them.
For some reason, nothing felt right today.
Neither the song nor the dance.
She felt that something was bothering her.
She had a hunch that something bad was about to happen.
She felt fazed.
Stephanie took a deep breath and closed her eyes, trying to calm herself down.
After a while, she decided to scrap everything she had worked on that day.
When she checked the time, it was already 9 p.m.
She shook her head, wiped the sweat from her brow, and decided to go home and have a good rest. Maybe the next day things would get better.
Stephanie was already exhausted, given what had happened that day. She didn’t bother to change clothes or shoes. She just threw on a jacket and headed to the parking lot.
It was April, and Haraville had already begun to warm up.
At 9 p.m., the city was more than alive.
Traffic buzzed continuously, making the city a vibrant place.

Stephanie took the elevator from the training building down to the parking lot.
Before she even reached her car, she was suddenly overwhelmed by a sense of dread.
There was no clear reason.
Her heart pounded wildly.
Adrenaline surged. She instantly reacted and leaped into a nearby flower bed.
The next moment, a car brushed past her.
It was so close that the wind it brought lifted her jacket.
Cold sweat poured down her back.
If she hadn’t jumped into that flower bed, that car would’ve hit her head–on.
Before she could even review what had just happened, she saw the black vehicle that had just missed her start to make a U–turn.
It was heading straight back to her.
It was clearly targeting her.
Who was it?
