McKayla hadn’t had a chance to explain yet, and Maxwell already spoke coldly from the side.

“Roxanne!” McKayla got even angrier.

Roxanne stood up straight and said indignantly, “You called Max dozens of times while he was driving, even had you, McKayla, call and yell at Max, ordered Max to come over, all just for this little injury?”

“Did you know how many cars were on the overpass, or how dangerous Max was? McKayla, the way you talked like it was no big deal made me think Stephanie was about to die!”

“Stephanie, McKayla, I, Roxanne, didn’t have much time left, but I still wasn’t going to just watch you bully Max like that!”

Roxanne’s voice and words were tough. She stepped out from behind Maxwell, her body shaking a little, but she looked really determined.

It was like a tough woman warrior protecting her man.

Maxwell didn’t say anything, he just looked at Stephanie coldly, with obvious impatience and disgust in his dark eyes.
