Chapter33
“The amazing one was Steph.” The man smiled and slowly let go of the girl’s hand, watching her play slowly without even realizing it.
“All Steph needed to do was believe in herself.”
The man’s hand let go completely.
“You were my only daughter, everything I had was yours, from the moment you were born, it was set that the future owner of the Shelton family was you.”
“Dad, could I really do it?” the girl asked, confused.
“You could.” The man chuckled.
The gentle sound of the piano flowed like a warm breeze, and the man’s eyes were full of admiration and affection for the girl.
He said, “See, you did it now, didn’t you?”
The girl looked at her hands in surprise, her fingers flying, and the beautiful sound of the piano flowed from her fingertips.
“Dad, I really did it!”
The little girl’s voice was full of surprise.
“Mm.” The man smiled and nodded. Then he looked up at the woman who was leaning against the grand piano, resting her chin on one hand, smiling at the father and daughter.
The woman had a beautiful face and wore a fiery red dress. Her long, delicate curls lazily draped over her fair shoulders, making her look

very charming.
The man patted the little girl on the shoulder, then walked toward the
woman.
He put his left hand behind his waist, leaned his body forward 45 degrees, and slowly reached his right hand out to the woman, palm down, making an invitation to dance.
“Ma’am, can I have this dance with you?”
“Okay.” The woman smiled and put her hand in the man’s palm.
The sound of the piano was melodious, and the man in a shirt held the woman’s waist and started to dance.
The red dress swirled, and everything seemed to freeze.
The little girl played the piano happily, and she pressed every key really carefully.
When another gust of wind blew, she looked up at the curtain that the wind had blown open.
Through the window, she saw that on the second–floor balcony of a villa not too far or too close from here, a little boy in an off–white British–style polo shirt was looking over this way from a distance.
Under his messy bangs were dark eyes.
Calm and still, but sharp like a blade.
Time flew by, and Stephanie looked at the little boy’s young, familiar face, which overlapped with the grown–up Maxwell.
Mature and reserved, with a hidden sharpness.

“Beep beep beep…”
In the ward, Stephanie suddenly opened her eyes.
I felt dizzy, and the white ceiling seemed to keep spinning.
She had a feeling like she wanted to throw up.
The air was filled with the smell of disinfectant, and my temples were throbbing with pain.
Stephanie lay on the hospital bed, like she was lying on a deck tossed by big waves.
What kept showing up in front of me was the scene from my dream just now.
Many years ago, her parents‘ dancing, Maxwell’s dark eyes, kept appearing in front of her eyes.
Tears silently ran down from the corner of Stephanie’s eyes. She couldn’t tell if her tears were because of how bad she felt, or because of
the past.
“… Was it you who hit the person? You were in such a hurry to look away!”
“McKayla, don’t go too far!”
As the sound of an argument came, Stephanie frowned a little.
She recognized it was McKayla and Maxwell’s voices.
Were they arguing?
Did something happen?
Stephanie barely sat up, and the dizziness didn’t get much better.

Stephanie propped herself up and glanced at the sign next to her.
It was a concussion.
Stephanie touched the bandage on her forehead and remembered the earlier hit.
Then, she subconsciously touched her belly again.
