Chapter344
Didn’t know how long they’d been walking, he told her to stop for a bit.
“Your shoelace is untied,” he said, then squatted down and reached out to tie her shoelace.
Stephanie wanted to stop him, but he had already grabbed the shoelace.
Stephanie looked at his serious profile, watching him with his head down.
He was always so gentle, like he could accept anything.
Belinda and he got along really well.
Under the streetlights, everything was covered in a layer of yellow.
He would be good to Belinda.
Stephanie was thinking.
“All right,” Lennon said, wiping his hands with a napkin. Then he looked up and met her eyes.
He didn’t stand up right away, but stayed in a kneeling position, looking up at her.
Then, he frowned a little.
“Steph,” he said.
“Hmm?” she answered.

“I didn’t want you to accept me because of Belinda,” he said.
Stephanie’s eyes drooped a little, and he guessed what she was thinking again.
He reached out and touched her face, making her look at him.
He was still kneeling on one knee, looking up at her.
“Steph, I wanted you to love me.
He said, “I wanted you to see me.”
“Not because of Belinda, not because of the bet.”
His eyes were dark and deep.
He said, “Steph, not because of anything else out there, I hoped what you saw and felt was me, that you loved me, Lennon.”
The breeze blew gently, and Stephanie looked at the man crouching below her.
Her heart seemed to be gently moved by the breeze, too.
Lennon looked at Stephanie, and in that moment, it seemed like there was only the two of them.
The breeze moved her hair, and the warmth from his palm c through.
It brought a bit of a strange feeling.
Lennon suddenly laughed.
Smiled really nicely, eyes full of laughter.
He didn’t stand up, just had some affection in his eyes.

He saw it.
All these days, for the first time, he saw being moved in her eyes.
It wasn’t being moved, it wasn’t the right fit, it wasn’t friendship.
But it was a crush.
My feelings for him.
Even though it was just a brief moment, it made him happy enough.
If loving someone could make you humble to the dust, then he was totally willing to be the one in the lower place.
Stephanie saw Lennon’s smile.
For so many days, it was the first time she saw him smile so nicely.
It wasn’t his usual gentle and refined look, and there was deep affection in his eyes.
It wasn’t mild, it was really intense. This was the first time in so many days that she saw aggression and possessiveness in his eyes.
This made her feel kind of… inexplicably shy.
