"Godfather, I'll try my best to persuade Ryan," Freya promptly said.
"It's fine. He doesn't even listen to what other people say." Nathan snorted and did not take her words seriously.
By the time she returned to her place, Ryan was still not back. Freya phoned him to ask, "Where are you? When are you coming back?"
"I'm having a drink and chatting with my friend. Have you returned to The Lodge? If so, I’ll come back now," Ryan swiftly said.
Freya was speechless. “Didn't Godfather ask you to have dinner in the Snow family’s house? Why are you drinking and chatting? Is your friend the one everyone thinks is your partner?"
"Mm." Ryan said with a smile. "I’ll bring you to meet him next time. Although his sexual orientation is different from mine, we've been good friends for years."
"Can you quickly come back?" Freya said with exasperation, "Your grandpa lost his temper tonight, and Godfather said he’ll be sending you to the grassroots tomorrow."
"I knew Grandpa would criticize me and even punish me, that’s why I didn't show up." Ryan was nonchalant. "I'll be home in 40 minutes."
10:00 p.m.
The lights in the building where Ryan stayed were finally lit up.
Freya immediately hurried over. As soon as she entered the house, someone hugged her. His thin lips that smelled of wine could not wait to land on hers.
"Hey, did you miss me?"
Ryan wrapped his arms tightly around her waist as he flirtatiously locked lips with her. His masculine voice that sounded from his throat could make one's legs tremble.
Freya was so nervous that her heart shuddered. How dare he press her on the main door and kiss her.
"Stop messing about. This is The Lodge. If someone catches us..." She promptly pushed him away.
"It's fine. I dislike being disturbed, so there won't be anyone around except when the servants clean this building during the day. What’s more, the door at the back is closed." Ryan's lips slowly moved backward until his kiss landed on her ear lobe.
"If I didn’t claim that I liked men, would you have allowed me to approach you without having your guard up?" Ryan cupped her face and said softly," Although you're slow-witted, you would’ve been
suspicious of me for being too nice and caring toward you."
"What a scheming man." He cupped Freya's face, squeezing her chubby cheeks.
Although she was criticizing him, her pretty, dark eyes did not reveal a look of anger at all. Instead, they were gentle.
"Freya, I've told you that I don’t attach much importance to my position. I've never thought of climbing to a certain rank either."
Ryan cast a gentle look on her. "It's not bad to be at the grassroots level. Given that there are lots of grassroots positions across Australia, does it mean that those employees are unhappy? Also, believe me, the cream rises to the top. Since this place doesn't suit me, I can make a career in business. I believe I'll be able to succeed as long as you don't look down on me." 1
"I don't look down on you. You're a brilliant person, and I believe you can excel in everything you do."
Freya looked into his calm, clear eyes. Suddenly, it hit her that he was really unconcerned about it. "I just hope... you won’t regret it in the future."
