Kelly’s POV

“Kelly!”

I flinched and lifted my face to look at Yara who’s frowning. She was reading my schedule for the whole week but my mind was wandering in the depths of my wild imaginations.

I still can’t forget about what happened between me and Pierce in their house at his sister’s birthday party.

“Don’t worry about Snow. You said Ana is a trustworthy person, right? They’ll come back after eating ice cream.”

Yes, I brought Snow to the company. After Pierce’s house, we went straight here since Pierce asked his assistant to buy us clothes. Actually, Pierce drove us here too and I couldn’t start a conversation with him inside his car. After our conversation on the poolside, I don’t know what to say to him again. It seems like my courage to tell him about Snow has disappeared and I couldn’t grasp it anymore.

I massaged my forehead and signaled Yara to continue.

“As I was saying you have an appointment with Attorney Lee. I set your meeting in a restaurant after I confirmed he’s a legitimate lawyer.”

“Attorney Lee?” I don’t know someone with that name.

“Yes. He introduced himself as the family lawyer of the Foster family.”

I slowly nodded. I’m suddenly curious. I don’t know that Attorney Lee but I’m curious about what he’s going to talk about with me.

“When is this meeting?”

“At 3 PM today in Bon Resto.”

The door swung open and Snow entered smiling sweetly. My forehead creased after I realized she’s dragging someone in and my lips parted after I met Pierce’s brown pair of orbs. Behind him was Ana who’s looking at me apologetically.

“Mommy, I met daddy outside!”

From the corner of my eyes, I saw Yara’s eyes widened. She cleared her throat and immediately excused herself, dragging Ana with her.

“Uh...sorry. I met someone in a nearby cafe and I saw Snow and Ana.”

My heart raced as I gave him a small smile. Unable to grasp something to say so I just brought back what he just said. “You met someone?”

He nodded and walked towards the couch. He sat there and handed Snow his phone after she borrowed it.

“Yeah. A highschool friend. You remember Drake and Angel? They’re married and happy now.”

My lips formed at O. “Really? I still remember how Angel rejected him in front of our schoolmates. I didn’t imagine they’d end up together.”

Pierce smirked. “I have the same reaction. I actually admired Drake. He didn’t give up on her even after their painful past.”

I pressed my lips together and stared at him. Just like how he didn’t give up on me after all these years.

“Daddy, you said you have a company. Can we go there?”

Snow stole Pierce’s attention. He smiled at her and put her on his lap. He combed her hair using his fingers.

“Soon, sweetheart. For now, I have to go back to my company.”

“But daddy, I want to go there! I want to see your office too.”

Pierce looked at me as if asking for my opinion. I don’t know what to do. I want to say no but I need to leave later for my meeting. Although Ana’s here to look after her, I need another person to trust about Snow’s safety.

I smiled and nodded. “Just bring her back before 4 PM.”

Pierce looked very happy and so was Snow. She ran towards me and jumped on my lap. She kissed my cheek and hugged me.

“Thank you, mommy. You are the best mommy in the world.”

I chuckled and messed her hair up. “You and your flowery tongue.”

“This was your grandmother, right?”

I nodded. “Yes...”

“Belle Peterson, Elle Young’s daughter, was never married but he adopted a girl and that was her...”

My heart raced after he swiped again and the photo of my mother appeared.

My forehead creased as I stared at Attorney Lee. “I don’t understand, Attorney Lee. You’re saying my mom wasn’t a real Peterson?”

“Eva Foster was abducted when she was young. Her family believed that she died together with the kidnapper when the car they’re riding crashed and exploded. However, after investigating for almost 20 years, the private investigator of the Foster family discovered that she’s alive and was adopted by a woman named Belle Peterson...”

I gasped and caressed my chest where my heart was racing so fast and loud. Oh my God! Is this real?

“Eva Foster lived as Kate Peterson.”

I slowly shook my head. “Why are you saying this to me, Attorney?”

“Because your mom was a heiress and since she’s gone, the inheritance will be yours to claim. According to the will of Madam Foster, only Eva Foster or her child could only run their family business.”

I bit my bottom lip and cupped my forehead. My head suddenly hurts. I feel like it’s about to explode because of too much information I heard today.

I just...I’m just so confused. Mom was adopted? And she’s...an heiress?

“I came here to talk to you about that, Miss Monroe. Madame Foster died three months ago and the family business is temporary under the leadership of Connor Foster, your uncle.”

I squeezed my eyes closed and sucked my breath. I drank the water in front of me and bit my bottom lip.

“You mean I should manage the family business?”

“That’s according to the will of your grandmother. This is now your responsibility to shoulder. I’m sorry that I had to come when you’re already living a peaceful life. I’m just doing my job.”
