Ivy’s POV

“Asher, stop!” I hissed, tugging against his grip as he pulled me down the hallway. His hand was firm around my wrist, his stride fast.

“You’re overreacting!” I said, trying again to wrench free, but his hold was unyielding.

“I’m not overreacting,” he said through clenched teeth. “You don’t see what I see, Ivy.”

I stumbled as he stopped abruptly at the door to our bedroom, his free hand twisting the knob. Before I could say another word, he pushed the door open and dragged me inside.

“Asher, let me go!” I said, my voice sharp, but he ignored me, releasing me only to shut the door behind us with a loud click.

I spun to face him, my chest heaving. “What the hell was that back there? You punched him!”

“Damn right I did,” he snapped, his brown eyes blazing. “He deserved it. He was looking at you like…” He trailed off, his jaw tightening. “Like you were a piece of steak he wanted to devour!”

“He’s my photographer, Asher!” I shot back, crossing my arms. “He was doing his job. His job was to take pictures of me!”

“That wasn’t just a job,” he said, stepping closer, his voice low and dangerous. “You didn’t see the way he was staring at you. Like he couldn’t wait to-”

“To what?” I interrupted, my voice rising. “Take a picture? That’s what he’s paid to do!”

He let out a bitter laugh, running a hand through his dark hair. “You’re seriously defending him right now?”

“I’m defending myself!” I snapped. “You humiliated me back there. You have no right to do that anymore! You lost that right the moment you took Taylor

to bed!”

He grabbed my upper arm and pulled me closer. “I didn’t cheat on you, ivy! I’ve said that to you a thousand and one times now, and you won’t listen to me!” he yelled. “I didn’t cheat on you. I would never. Taylor is doing this on purpose. I don’t remember-”

I took a step back, the heat of the argument making the room feel smaller. “That’s because I don’t believe you!” I shouted back at him. “I don’t believe a

word you say…” I said softly.

He pulled away from me and began to pace from one end of the room to the other. His hands were curled into fists. His frame shook with the force of his anger. “Okay, you don’t believe me.”

“No!”

He spun around sharply. “Okay, so what? You like him, huh?” he asked.

“Yes!” I blurted out without giving it a second thought/It was a lie, but Asher didn’t need to know that. I was angry, and I needed him to know that. I folded my arms across my chest. “Yes! Yes, I like him, think I’m beginning to fall in love with him. He makes me really happy! He’s devoted to me and only me-”

“So you want to fuck him?” he asked with a crazed look in his eyes. I had never seen Asher this angry. The last bit of common sense I had left told me to let it be, but I didn’t want to. The irrational part of me was insistent; it wanted to do everything to irritate him.
