Billionaire's Bounty Cost Of Love And Revenge novel Chapter 95

Chapter 95

Asher’s POV

The loud beat of the music in the club matched the pounding in my chest as I leaned in closer to Kat. Her eyes were wide with disbelief as she shook her

head at me.

This is a bad idea, Asher. A terrible idea, she said, her voice sharp, piercing through the thrum of music and loud conversations around us.

I folded my arms over my chest, trying to ignore the guilt gnawing at me from the inside. You don’t get it, Kat. This can work. It has to work

She gave me a look that could shoot daggers. No, Asher, it doesn’t have to work. It won’t work. You’re playing with fire. Ivy doesn’t trust you anymore, and pulling some jealousy stunt isn’t going to fix that. If anything, it’ll just make things worse.”

I shook my head, trying to drown out her words. Kat didn’t understand. She didn’t know Ivy the way I did. Ivy was too proud to admit it, but she was doing the exact same thing with that stupid photographer, Dexter.

She wanted me to react, to fight for her. That’s why she was parading him around like some shiny new toy. She wanted to make me jealous, and God in heaven, she succeeded at it.

Well, two can play at that game,” I muttered, more to myself than to her.

Kat sighed, exasperated. You’re being an idiot. A jealous woman isn’t the same as a jealous man. You’re not going to win her back by trying to oneup her. This isn’t some high school drama, Asher. You’re dealing with your wife, not some random fling. You hurt her. You’ve got to try to win her back.

You don’t think I’m trying my hardest? She’s my wife, Kat. My wife. You don’t just give up on that,I replied.

Kat stared at me like I was the dumbest person she’d ever met. No, but you also don’t manipulate her into coming back to you. If she doesn’t trust you now, this little stunt of yours is only going to-

Her words cut off as Luca walked over to the table. My jaw tightened immediately, my body stiffening like a coiled spring.

Asher,Luca called out to me in a casual voice.

I didn’t answer. Just looking at him was enough to make my blood boil. All I could see was his smug face that night, his arm around Janine, my little sister. The memory was like a punch to the gut every time it surfaced. And their little declaration of love to each other? I couldn’t take it.

Asher,Luca tried again, his tone shifting. He had a solemn look on his face. It had been weeks since we spoke to each other.

I stood up abruptly, the chair scraping against the floor. Don’t,I snapped, my voice low and hard. Lcouldn’t deal with this, not now. I had other pressing

issues.

Asher, come on-

I didn’t let him finish. I was already walking away, my fists clenched at my sides. The music swallowed his words as he called after me, but I didn’t care. I needed space. I needed air.

I pushed through the crowd, my mind a chaotic mess. Kat didn’t get it. Luca didn’t get it. Hell, maybe no one did. But this planthis had to work. Ivy had to see that we belonged together. I would win her back because she was mine and mine alone.

Luca’s POV

I sighed heavily and plopped down into the chair Asher had just vacated. The weight of his anger lingered in the air. I stared after him as he walked away until he disappeared into the crowd.

Kat crossed her arms and looked between me and the direction Asher had stormed off in. Okay, what the hell was that?

Chapter 95

I ran a hand through my hair, leaning back in the chair. That? That’s Asher being Asher

She raised an eyebrow, her expression a mix of curiosity and irritation. Yeah, I got that much. But what’s your deal with him? He looked ready to purch you, and, well, that’s weirdshe added with a shrug.

I let out a bitter laugh. licated.

She rolled her eyes. Everything’s complicated with you guys. Spill. Her eyes narrowed. Right this minute!

For a moment, I debated brushing it off, but Kat wasn’t the type to let things go. And honestly, I was too tired to keep holding it in.

It’s Janine,I admitted, my voice quieter now.

His sister?Kat asked, frowning.

I nodded, staring at the table as if it held the answers to all my problems. Wehad a thing. We have a thing,I corrected myself quickly. The thought made me smilethe thought that she was mine for life. But Asher wasn’t exactly thrilled when he found out.”

Kat’s eyes widened. Wait. You and his little sister?

Yeah,I said, rubbing the back of my neck. And by the way he’s acting, I think it’s safe to say he still hasn’t forgiven me for it.

She let out a low whistle. I don’t think he’s going to forgive you. That’s usually an unforgivable sin, especially with you guys. But you don’t seem like the type to go for someone like her.

I looked up at her sharply. What’s that supposed to mean?

Kat shrugged. Just saying. I mean, she’s not like all the girls you’ve datedall the girls you hang out with. She gave me a look. So what, is this serious? This is not a casual fling? She crossed her arms.

She’s more than that,I said, my voice a little sharper than I intended. Janine means so much more to me. I mean, she always has. I care so deeply

about her. This could never be casual to me

Kat studied me for a moment, her gaze softening slightly. Does she feel the same way?

I broke into a wide smile and lowered my gaze. This was what she’d turned me intoa grown man blushing at the thought of her. We’re in love with each other. WeI looked at Kat. We said the words to each other already. We’re a couple, officially,I explained.

She tilted her head, her expression thoughtful. And what about Asher? Have you tried to patch things up with him?

Of course I have,I said, leaning forward. But Asher’s stubborn. Once he’s made up his mind about somethingor someonethere’s no changing it.

Kat tapped her fingers on the table, her lips pursed. Sounds like both of you are carrying around way too much baggage. Maybe you should just leave him alone for now.

I sighed, slumping back in my chair. Maybe. But he’s my friend, Kat. Or at least, he used to be. I don’t want to lose that.
