Blizzard, First Love and a Wife Who Finally Snaps novel Chapter 268

Isabel sat up and noticed the shackle was gone from her wrist.

The room seemed to have been tidied up—the sheets were fresh, and the window was even open, allowing a gentle breeze to stir the curtains.

She was wearing a normal nightgown.

It was as if everything that had happened before was just a nightmare.

"Mommy, you slept for a long time," Oliver said, counting on his fingers. "I waited for you for three... four... four hours and thirty minutes."

Isabel looked at the innocent, cherubic face before her.

It had been almost a year since their relationship fell apart.

The last time was in December, amidst a heavy snowfall.

It was probably snowing back home now, but here in Grey Zone, and in nearby Aurelia City, it never snowed. The temperature was pleasant enough for a light jacket.

She didn't like the snow in Westbridge.

In other words, she no longer liked the Blackwell father and son.

Her new life had begun, and she had no desire to dwell on the past.

"I am not your mother," she said coldly, getting out of bed to wash up. Then, she went to the door and opened it.

To her surprise, it was unlocked.

She immediately headed downstairs.

But she ran into Adrian at the top of the stairs.

His gaze swept down, and he strode over, scooping her up into his arms.

"Put me down," Isabel struggled immediately.

Adrian's arms were steady. He carried her to the dining table. Oliver came over with a pair of slippers and placed them by Isabel's feet.

"Daddy," he apologized, "Mommy ran too fast. I couldn't keep up, so she's barefoot."

"Sit and eat," Adrian said, patting his head as he took a seat beside Isabel.

Oliver climbed onto the chair on her other side.

The father and son had her cornered.

Isabel ate with a blank expression, treating them like air.

Adrian shucked oysters and shelled abalone, placing the meat on her plate.
