Bound by Magic, Married by Fate novel Chapter 112

Owen suppressed his anger. "Ever since Darrell got off that cruise ship, rumors started spreading that he was the mastermind behind the incident on board. Lucius has never been one to accept losses. He suffered on that ship, and he'll definitely want revenge."

Valerie asked calmly, "Do you have any proof?"

Owen replied, "Not yet."

"Then don't make baseless accusations. Who knows if the real culprit is just trying to drive a wedge between you two?"

Owen fell silent after that.

The situation inside the emergency room was deteriorating rapidly. Darrell's life hung by a thread, and the monitors showed his blood pressure and oxygen levels plummeting.

Owen's eyes reddened as he clung to the doorframe, shouting, "Darrell! You can't die on me!"

Lucinda turned to Valerie with a pleading look, as if Valerie were the only one who could save him.

Valerie asked Owen, "Who's in charge of the Foster family right now?"

Owen seemed to catch what she was saying. "My parents are abroad. With my brother like this, I'm the one making the decisions for now."

Valerie continued, "Are you able to decide on matters concerning your brother's life?"

Owen froze in place.

Darrell was the pillar of the Foster family, and no mistakes could be tolerated. Even as the acting head of the family, Owen didn't dare to give that kind of permission lightly.

Lucinda snapped, "Darrel's dying, and you're still hesitating?"

Valerie gestured for her to stop. "This is a matter concerning the Fosters. The decision should come from the person currently leading the family."

Valerie had learned that Lucinda wasn't even officially Darrell's girlfriend. They were just in a somewhat ambiguous relationship.

Realizing she'd overstepped, Lucinda fell silent and looked to Owen to decide.

Several staff members moved toward her, but Owen stopped them. "She's here to save my brother."

Rowan stared at Valerie in disbelief. "She's not even 20. What can she possibly do to save him?"

Valerie calmly turned off the defibrillator. "Just give me three minutes of silence."

She pushed the stunned doctor aside and checked Darrell's pulse.

He was already unconscious, with a pale face, bluish lips, and a lifeless body.

Rowan frowned. "Miss, are you a practitioner of traditional medicine?"

Valerie didn't bother to answer him.

Being ignored made Rowan bristle with irritation, and he could only turn to Owen for guidance.
