Breaking Mr. Cold (Giselle and Donovan) novel Chapter 646

After the car accident, Donovan had no choice but to be much more cautious. He quickly reached out through his connections and contacted several chief customs officers, but none of them found any record of Anne entering the country.

But it made sense that they found nothing. After all, so much time had passed. If she had really returned under her real name, she wouldn't be working in the shadows now.

Those few days, Donovan had been at a loss. He also happened to be swamped with work lately, and he had no choice but to spend most of his time dealing with work matters. All he could do was repeatedly warn Giselle to be careful whenever she was outside and prepare to hire two more bodyguards.

She was just as worried as he was. Her instincts told her that Anne really had returned. Yet, what unsettled her most was not knowing where Anne was hiding or what she planned to do.

Before she got married, Giselle used to think her life was worthless, and she had nothing to lose. But now that she was married to Donovan and their fates were tied together, there was finally a chink in her armor.

After contemplating for two days, Giselle decided to visit the Holt residence. If Anne really had returned, had she met Renee in secret? Had she quietly slipped back into the house at any point?

A visit might reveal some clues…

Not long after, Hank pulled up in front of the Holt residence. The moment she stepped out of the car, she looked around warily before walking into the main hall.

A housemaid was cleaning the living room. The whole place felt deserted and even slightly eerie.

The maid greeted Giselle. "Dr. Holt isn't home, but Mrs. Holt has been here these days. She's upstairs putting Silas to sleep. I'll go inform her now."

"No need," she said. "Has anyone else come here this past month?"

"Anyone else?" the maid echoed, sadness flashing in her eyes. "No one comes anymore. Ever since Mr. Sebastian and Ms. Anne passed away one after another, Ms. Moore hardly ever goes out. She stopped hosting parties and even dismissed the butler and Marilyn, saying there was no need for so many people.

"I probably will not be here much longer either…"
