Bullied and Dumped, But She Won in the End (Adriana) novel Chapter 103

**When Time Tried to Heal Me But I Refused to Listen by Kael Niro Senn**

“No.” Adriana’s voice was firm, a quiet rebellion against the notion of betraying Eva. The thought weighed heavily on her heart.

“Relax,” Curtis said, his tone light yet persuasive. “We’re not getting divorced. Once you’re genuinely pregnant, he won’t have any reason to tear us apart.”

His words hung in the air, laced with a strange mix of hope and desperation. “The Lincolns have this ancient family rule—no children outside of marriage, and no divorces while the wife is expecting.”

Curtis’s fingers glided through her hair, an intimate gesture that sent shivers down her spine. “So, we just need to try a little harder, right?”

Adriana’s mind raced, instantly grasping the implication behind his words. He wanted her to put in more effort in their intimate moments. The idea made her cheeks flush, and she couldn’t help but think of Bonnie, who had always set a rather audacious example.

“Okay,” she nodded rapidly, her heart pounding in her chest.

But what if Harold kicked you out or seized your shares? The thought crept into her mind like a shadow, dark and foreboding.

After a moment of silence, she hesitantly posed the question, “But… what if Harold retaliates?”

Curtis paused, a contemplative look crossing his face before a smile broke through. “If you’re pregnant, he has no reason to kick me out. Besides, he’s getting too old to handle everything on his own. If he tried, he’d probably work himself to the bone.”

He seemed confident, but deep down, he knew Harold was more concerned with pushing him to marry Nicole than anything else. After everything that had transpired, it was likely Harold wouldn’t bother Adriana for a while.

“Then… I’ll do my best,” Adriana declared, determination sparking in her eyes as she grabbed his hand and tugged him toward the stairs. “Come on. Let’s go make a baby.”

“Babe…” Curtis chuckled, a hint of exhaustion in his voice as he wrapped his arms around her from behind, guiding her up the steps. “Be nice to me, okay? I just got back overnight and spent the whole day flying. I’m completely wiped out.”

Her ears flushed crimson at his playful tone. Was Curtis actually being cute with her? Her heart raced, and she dared not glance back, afraid to break the spell of this tender moment. That softer side of him was dangerously enchanting.

“Didn’t Kenneth mention you’d pick up Belinda?” Curtis asked, his voice dropping to a more serious note. “Sleep with me for just two hours first, then we can go together.”

Adriana nodded, her thoughts shifting. “Yeah, she’s been bullied at school. They call her a freeloader, saying she’s just living off you. She’s too proud to admit she feels like a burden, and now she despises school.”

Curtis fell quiet, his grip on her hand tightening as they entered the room. “I’m not exactly the best parent,” he admitted, his voice barely above a whisper. “Luckily, I have you.”

Adriana’s heart tightened at his words. Did he treat Belinda so kindly because he still held feelings for Cynthia? She studied him closely, the question bubbling to the surface. “Can I… ask something?”
