Bullied and Dumped, But She Won in the End (Adriana) novel Chapter 183

**When Time Tried to Heal Me But I Refused to Listen by Kael Niro Senn**
**Chapter 183: Raid**

The moment the words left Joe’s lips, Eva’s complexion turned ghostly pale, as if every ounce of color had been siphoned away. Anxiety twisted her features as she darted a worried glance towards Joe. “W-What are you talking about?” she stammered, her heart racing.

Adriana’s descent down the staircase was deliberate, her voice as frigid as a winter’s night. “Eva. I’m the one who called the police.” Each word dripped with an icy resolve. “You see, I installed surveillance in the kitchen. You have a choice: hand over the medicine and tell the truth, or I can invite Officer Richardson to open a full criminal investigation and send officers to arrest you.”

Her gaze was a sharp blade, cutting through the air with a lethal precision.

As the weight of Adriana’s words settled over Eva, her pallor deepened. Eva was not inherently malicious; rather, she was a fundamentally decent person caught in a web of her own making. The guilt she felt was palpable, written all over her face like an open book.

She fidgeted with her hands, her voice barely above a whisper. “Adriana… this is all a misunderstanding… I heard you miscarried, and I just wanted to help nourish your body…”

Adriana stepped closer, her presence looming ominously. “The food has already been tested,” she stated, her tone unwavering. “It contains compounds that can lead to irreversible infertility. Do you still wish to lie? I’m offering you this chance out of respect for our shared history. Either you confess, or you face the consequences of imprisonment. And if you end up behind bars, you know exactly how devastating that would be for your son.”

Adriana had expertly struck at the softest point in Eva’s defenses—her child.

Everyone has a vulnerability, a chink in their armor. No one is exempt.

Panic surged within Eva, her voice quivering. “Mr. Lincoln hired me… I belong to the Lincoln Estate. You have no authority over me.”

Yet, despite her bravado, she was still resisting.

“You should know better than anyone how deeply Curtis cares for this child. He even had the audacity to send Belinda to the police. What makes you think you would be treated any differently?” Adriana’s laughter was cold, devoid of warmth.

Eva’s shoulders slumped, defeat washing over her. Her head hung low, and after a prolonged internal struggle, she finally managed to utter the words that had been trapped in her throat. “It was Mr. Harold… He ordered me to do it. He doesn’t want your marriage to Mr. Lincoln to last. As long as you can’t conceive, Mr. Curtis will have no reason to remain married to you. The Lincolns owe the Bartons, and Mr. Curtis must marry the missing eldest daughter of the Bartons—Nicole Barton.”

Adriana felt her breath hitch. She had suspected as much. “So Harold didn’t just want to prevent me from getting pregnant now—he wanted to ensure my previous pregnancy never survived either. Why? He used to fret that Curtis would never have a child. He begged for Curtis to have a baby.”

“Because…” Eva’s eyes glistened with unshed tears. She lowered her gaze once more, unable to meet Adriana’s piercing stare. “Because now there is another heir to continue the Lincoln bloodline. Mr. Michael and his wife had a son, Denton Lincoln. Years ago, in front of the Bartons, Mr. Harold signed an agreement stating that all his assets would pass to Mr. Curtis’s descendants. This means more than half of the Lincoln Group’s shares belong to Mr. Curtis… and the other half to his child.”

Adriana exchanged a knowing look with Joe—this revelation confirmed everything she had feared.

Years ago, Harold had secured the future inheritance rights for Curtis’s children, all while harboring the fear that Nicole might never be found. He viewed a great-grandchild as his safest bet.

But now Michael had returned, bringing with him a second grandson: Denton.
