Chapter 79 Temptation and Tension
Chapter 79 Temptation and Tension
Adriana followed closely behind Curtis, obediently keeping pace.
Before entering the elevator, Curtis glanced at Adriana. Her head was bowed, eyes unfocused, lost in thought.
“What are you thinking about?” Curtis asked softly.
“This bracelet … could I swap it for a fake one?” Adriana whispered, trying to be cautious. “Just to be safe.”
Curtis chuckled. “If it breaks, we’ll get another one. The Lincolns have plenty of jewelry in their collection.”
Adriana looked at Curtis but couldn’t find it in herself to smile. She muttered under her breath, “This is no different than having a knife at my throat.”
“You won’t have to pay if it breaks.” Curtis reached out and took Adriana’s hand, guiding her back toward their room.
As they stepped out of the elevator, they bumped into Matthew and Natasha.
Coincidentally, they were staying in the same hotel, on the same floor in the VIP section, and… in adjacent
rooms.
Natasha’s face darkened the instant she saw Adriana and Curtis. By reflex, she looped her arm through Matthew’s
Curtis waved cheerfully at Matthew, swiped his room card, and led Adriana inside.
No sooner had they crossed the threshold than Curtis pressed Adriana against the door and kissed her.
Adriana froze, staring at him, not quite processing what was happening before he scooped her up in a bear hug.
“Ah!” Weightless and startled, Adriana cried out as the back of her head bumped the door. Her heart was racing.
Thinking Matthew and Natasha might still be in the hallway, she instinctively raised a hand to cover her mouth.
Curtis, seemingly mischievous on purpose, bit down gently on her collarbone.
It didn’t hurt, but it tickled, and Adriana bit back any sound, forcing Curtis to keep teasing her. “Ah… “This time it actually hurt, and Adriana’s eyes turned red as she looked at Curtis. “Curtis. stop.”
In the hallway, Matthew stood frozen, holding his room card. His gaze seemed to crystallize into ice.

The card was crushed in his hand, snapped clean in two.
Natasha’s chest heaved with anger, jealousy flaring as she glared at Curtis’s hotel room.
That seductress! She was born to mess with men!
“Women like her are just toys for men,” Natasha ground out through clenched teeth.
Matthew shot Natasha a cold, warning look–something he’d never done before.
Natasha’s heart tightened. She had never been warned like this before, and it unnerved her.

“Matthew… women like this are everywhere in our circles. They’re all just caged birds. If she can please you in bed, she can please anyone–as long as someone’s willing to pay.”
Natasha was fuming, holding the broken card uselessly. The door wouldn’t open, so all she could do was listen to the noises coming from Curtis’s room.
She knew the hotel had excellent soundproofing, yet Curtis seemed intent on teasing Adriana right by the door.
Even with the seal on the door, the smallest crack carried sounds through.
“Curtis! Curtis … stop…”
Behind the door, Curtis continued his playful torment of Adriana. If she didn’t speak up, he’d make her.
Matthew could no longer contain himself.
He turned and left the hotel silently.
Natasha tried to follow, but froze in shock at the droplets of blood on the floor…
Matthew had snapped the room card in his own hand, the broken shards piercing his palm.
Now Natasha completely lost it.
What does Matthew really feel for Adriana?
Even knowing she’s in the room pleasing another man, he still can’t let go?
“Curtis, this … isn’t right …
Adriana’s back burned hot, her clothes long since discarded onto the floor.
Unable to hold onto Curtis while standing, she pressed against the cold door. The chill made her tense, forcing her to cling to him again instinctively.
Curtis smirked, noticing her tears, and quickly carried her into the bathroom to calm her.
“I’m sorry…” Curtis apologized smoothly.
