**Chapter 91: Take You to the Hospital**
Curtis’s message appeared on Adriana’s phone, clear and direct: “Use the card I gave you.”
Moments later, another notification chimed in, announcing a transfer of another 500 thousand into her bank account.
He followed up with, “For places that don’t accept cards, just use PayPal.”
Adriana’s heart raced as she absorbed the implications of his generosity. A man like Curtis, with such wealth and willingness to share it, was hard not to be enchanted by.
“Curtis actually sent you money?” Belinda’s voice broke through her reverie, a hint of disbelief lacing her words as she glanced over, her eyes wide.
“Yeah… He wants me to take you shopping. Buy whatever you want,” Adriana replied, a smile spreading across her face as she looked at her friend.
Who wouldn’t be thrilled by such a windfall? With a sugar daddy as generous as Curtis, Adriana felt the weight of her roles as both wife and aunt pressing upon her. She had to navigate this new territory with care.
“Hmph, he was always generous to my mom, and he only gave you 500 thousand,” Belinda remarked, her tone slightly haughty. “But my mom never accepted his money. Don’t you think she’s kinda foolish?”
A twinge of discomfort washed over Adriana. So, I accepted the money. Does that make me a gold digger?
It made sense now why Curtis was so taken with Cynthia; she was unlike anyone else. Adriana couldn’t deny it—if someone offered her money, she would gladly accept it. After all, life had a way of making financial needs insatiable.
“I’m not saying taking money makes you a gold digger…” Belinda’s voice softened as she caught on to the tension, her eyes darting around as if seeking an escape from the awkwardness.
Adriana merely smiled, a light laugh escaping her lips.
“You’re getting paid to do a job, right? So it’s basically your salary,” Belinda quickly added, trying to smooth over the moment.
Adriana’s smile widened, but she chose to remain silent, pondering the complexities of her situation.
Perhaps in Curtis’s eyes, I am just a gold digger. But for him, paying for services is far less complicated than dealing with emotional entanglements.
As they wandered through the vibrant shopping district, Adriana was pleasantly surprised by Belinda’s behavior. The little girl was surprisingly well-mannered, only asking for a drink and nothing more.
By the time the afternoon sun began to dip, Adriana found her initial impressions of Belinda shifting.
Belinda was certainly headstrong and a touch spoiled, but there was a kindness in her that was hard to ignore.
“Adriana…” Around 3 p.m., Belinda’s voice trembled slightly, her eyes darting around the bustling mall as if searching for something amiss.
“What’s wrong?” Adriana asked, her concern piqued by Belinda’s sudden anxiety.
“Something feels off,” Belinda replied, her unease growing palpable. “Danielle asked me to take you shopping and to report back where you were.”
Adriana froze, a chill creeping down her spine.
What is Danielle scheming this time?
