A cold, mocking smile spread across Sebastian’s face, and the devilish aura he exuded washed over Natalie. He sat there silently, turning his head to meet her gaze. His eyes were so deep and sharp that she had to look away.
His voice was slow and deliberate. “Natalie, have you forgotten what I told you last time? Between us, there is only death. There will be no divorce.”
Natalie was stunned. That line again. She glared at him, her large, expressive eyes filled with rage.
“If you won’t divorce me, then what are you doing here? From now on, Mr. Griffith, unless it’s about the divorce, please don’t come looking for me.”
She stood up and turned to Matthew and Keith with a playful smile. “Mr. Jones, Mr. Monroe, shall we find another place to eat?” She was starving and didn’t want these people to ruin her appetite.
Matthew shot a cold glance at Sebastian. “Of course.”
Keith rose and helped Natalie to her feet.
The sight of Keith’s hand on Natalie’s arm made Sebastian feel an overwhelming urge to break it. His hand, resting on the table, tightened into a fist, his eyes glinting with a murderous light.
Joanna looked at Sebastian in disbelief. Natalie wanted a divorce, but he was the one refusing? ‘Til death do us part, no divorce. Then what did that make her? The other woman?
After Natalie and the others left, Joanna turned to Sebastian, tears streaming down her face. “Sebastian, how could you do this to me? What am I to you? You promised you would marry me. How could you break your word?”
Sebastian stood up, his tall frame casting a long shadow. He looked at her with detached indifference. “Joanna, I thought I made myself clear last time. And what you said today was way out of line. Don’t ever come to my house again.”
His cold tone made Joanna stumble back a step. She knew he was furious, but what had set him off? Was it because she had told Natalie she’d spent the night at his place?
