But she said nothing more. The car had entered the winding mountain roads, and she focused on driving. The mist cleared, revealing a glorious moon that bathed the landscape in a soft, ethereal glow. Under the moonlight, Sebastian’s face was pale, his expression lost.
…
Marshall and Natalie were thrown onto a pile of weeds. The impact left Natalie’s head spinning.
“Natalie, are you okay?” Marshall asked, his voice laced with concern.
She closed her eyes, a wave of nausea washing over her. Of course she wasn’t okay. Marshall looked over and saw the men unbuckling their pants, his eyes flashing with rage.
“We don’t need to find anyone else. We can take care of this beauty ourselves. If you don’t like it, get lost.”
“Hey, we’re young, virile guys. We need female companionship.”
The man with the camera looked at them with disdain. “You guys are disgusting. Can’t control yourselves no matter where you are. Fine, fine. Bringing in outsiders would risk our identities anyway. Go ahead. I’ll just take the pictures. This place is secluded. Have fun.” He shot a wicked grin at Natalie.
Natalie’s face was a mask of revulsion. This was Joanna’s favorite tactic. She would make her pay for this, using her own methods against her.
One of the men, already shirtless, started walking toward Natalie.
As the man’s face neared hers, Natalie recoiled in disgust. Where was Luna?
“Bang!” The sound of a gunshot split the air.
The man holding Natalie cried out as a bullet tore through his arm. He stared in shock at his bleeding limb, then spun around in a panic. In the same instant, a powerful kick landed squarely in his back, sending him sprawling. His assailant’s foot came down hard on his groin.
“Aargh!” A wave of agony, the most intense pain he had ever known, ripped through him. His vision swam as the fear of death washed over him. Sebastian’s iron-hard boot ground into him again and again. The man’s eyes rolled back in his head as he passed out.
Sebastian turned, his fury directed at the man with the camera. He landed a brutal punch on the man’s jaw.
