As Jared led Monica into the restaurant, he saw them. If he hadn't heard her voice, he wouldn't have even recognized Susan. She was more beautiful than ever. Susan loved seafood, and since money was no object, their table was laden with it. They were eating and talking, laughing happily. The sight was like a thorn in Jared's side. If it had been a man sitting across from Natalie instead, he felt he might have gone insane.

"Jared," Monica said, a sense of crisis washing over her as she saw the captivated look in Jared's eyes. The two women were so engrossed in their conversation that they hadn't noticed Jared and Monica arrive. Jared's face was a cold mask as he turned to leave, but then he overheard Susan's next words.

"Natalie, you said you'd introduce me to Lennon. When are you going to set it up?"

Jared's fists clenched. He stared at Susan's expectant face. She wasn't clinging to him anymore; she was ready to move on with other men. Logically, this should have been a good thing, but he couldn't suppress the rage boiling up inside him. His dark eyes were glacial. So this was the extent of her love for him.

Natalie nodded at Susan's curious expression. "He's not coming back until my birthday. I'll personally introduce you two then."

"Oh my god! From the way you describe him—so charming and looking like a movie star—I'm honestly intrigued."

Natalie pulled out her phone and found a picture of him. "Here, look, Susan. No filter."

Susan gazed at the man on the screen. He was wearing a simple white t-shirt, his hair falling over his forehead. His features were sharply defined, yet he projected an aura of gentleness and elegance that Jared could never hope to match. "Wow, Natalie, he's gorgeous! Are you sure you want to introduce him to me?"

"Yes, my birthday's in October, so it's coming up soon. My grandfather chose the day he found me as my official birthday, so Lennon will be back for it. I miss him a lot, too."

Susan was thrilled. "My god, who wouldn't miss having a handsome guy like that around? If he were in my family, I'd follow him around all day."
