Joanna fumed. "Just get out of here. I'll wait for Sebastian."
Sean did exactly that. Once he was outside the gates, he called Sebastian. "Hello?" Sebastian's low voice on the other end told Sean he hadn't caught up with Natalie.
"Sir, Ms. Scott is at your villa gate. She says she's waiting for you."
"Let her wait," Sebastian replied. "I'm going to the office." He hung up.
Sean chuckled as he ended the call. The Sebastian of today was a different man—all business, with a streak of cruelty. When he loved someone, he'd put them on a pedestal. When he didn't, he'd toss them aside like trash. He glanced back at Joanna squatting by the gate and couldn't help but wonder who looked more like a stray dog now.
After waiting for an hour, Joanna gave up and called him. He told her he was working late at the office and that she should just go home. When she asked about the password, he stated flatly that it was his house now, and she was no longer welcome inside.
Furious and humiliated, Joanna had no choice but to leave. As she walked away from the luxurious villa that had once felt like her dream, she pulled out her phone and called Sebastian's father, Timothy. "Joanna," Timothy's voice was warm.
Joanna's voice was full of grievance, "I think we need you to step in. Sebastian refuses to divorce Natalie. If we don't force his hand, our plan will never succeed."
After getting home safely, Natalie received a text from an unknown number. [Natalie, I want you dead.] She glanced at it, startled by the late-night threat, but quickly dismissed it and went to take a shower.
After her shower, she checked her phone again and saw a message from Sebastian. [Why didn't you come home tonight?] Natalie rolled her eyes. As if he didn't know why. When it came to the divorce, she had no power unless Sebastian himself relented. She couldn't compete with his wealth or influence, not yet.
Frustrated, Natalie knew her only real option was to wait two years and use the photos of him and Joanna as grounds for divorce. Reborn into this life, she wouldn't waste her time. Sebastian was clearly growing colder toward Joanna, but that woman's insatiable greed was disgusting. She wanted fame and fortune and would stop at nothing to have both, just like in her past life, scheming her way through high society and manipulating men to get what she wanted.
