Marshall had brought ten bodyguards with him. The grand hall of the Scott family estate was packed, a sea of dark suits and grim faces.
As Natalie and her group walked in, Joanna ran over, crying, and threw herself into Sebastian’s arms.
“Sebastian, you’re finally here! You have to help me! I never did anything to harm the Spencer family.”
Sebastian gently patted her back, but his eyes were drawn to Natalie. Her expression was completely detached, void of any emotion. A nameless fire ignited in his gut.
“Natalie, why did you frame Joanna?” Nathan was the first to attack.
Wendy, who had been feeling a sliver of guilt, lost it completely when she heard the two men had accused Natalie.
“Natalie, why are you so wicked? I should never have given birth to you. If I had known you would turn out like this, I would have smothered you in your crib,” Wendy said, looking at Natalie with a mixture of hatred and disappointment.
Her words struck Natalie like a physical blow, wounding her deeply.
Queena felt a sharp pain in her own heart. How could a mother say such things?
Meanwhile, Joanna, still nestled in Sebastian’s arms, allowed a triumphant smile to cross her lips. Today is the day you die, Natalie. She had known Marshall would come looking for her, so she had made arrangements in advance.
Marshall saw Natalie arrive. That woman… she had humiliated him so thoroughly the other night. Today, he would make her pay. Attempted murder for hire—she was going to prison.
He gave her a lecherous smirk. “Natalie, you were pretty full of yourself that night, weren’t you? So tough, breaking both my arms and slapping me ten times. I bet you didn’t think I’d find evidence, did you? You were behind it all, and you even framed Joanna.”
Natalie looked at his idiotic expression. There were things he clearly wasn't aware of, simply because he was too lazy to investigate properly. Even a genius could be a fool.
Just then, Marshall’s phone buzzed with a new video message. He watched it, and his eyes filled with rage. He had almost been played by Joanna again.
Queena smiled sweetly. “Mr. Scott, perhaps we should call the police first? With them here, things will be fair.”
Joanna was in shock.
Nathan looked like he wanted to kill the two fools. How could they mistake the person?
“Hah…” Queena’s eyes flashed with anger as she looked at the man. “You’ve really seen me before? It was really me who gave you a million dollars?”
The man wavered. He had never actually met Natalie. But since this woman was challenging him, she must be the one.
He spoke with conviction. “Yes! It was you!”
Sebastian’s face was grim. He pushed Joanna away and strode over, looming over the man. “Are you sure she is Natalie?”
The man was terrified by Sebastian’s icy presence. He trembled as he answered, “I’m sure. I’m sure it was her who gave us the million dollars and told us to frame Ms. Scott.”
