Bye-bye Trash! Hello Queen! novel Chapter 75

She began to cry silently. So, everything Natalie had said was true. And she… she had lost her real daughter forever.

How could she not know the personality of the daughter she had raised? That stubborn streak was just like her own. Once she made a decision, she would never give up, and she would never look back.

Nathan, Joanna, Sebastian… just you wait. I won’t let you get away with this.

While Nathan was in the kitchen, Wendy quietly slipped back into her room and went to take a shower. When she came out, she put on her nightgown, climbed into bed, and stared out at the night sky.

The neighborhood was quiet, but Natalie’s anguished voice echoed in her ears like thunder.

“Sebastian, stay out of this! I’m just trying to teach this liar a lesson! And she has the audacity to ask you to vouch for her! She’s despicable, she’ll never change. I’m glad I never acknowledged her as my real daughter.”

Wendy couldn’t stop the fresh wave of tears.

What horrible, hurtful things had she said?

Natalie would never forgive her now.

The daughter she had looked down on had been switched at birth, forced to become the despised adopted daughter of the Scott family, and she hadn't even had the courage to admit she was her own flesh and blood. She didn’t deserve to be a mother.

Wendy regretted everything she had done to Natalie. She had been kept in the dark for over twenty years.

When Nathan had proposed to her, she had thought he truly loved her. Now she understood it was all a lie. Because of his apparent kindness, she had borne him five children. She had always wanted a daughter, and though Nathan hadn't wanted more children, she had gotten pregnant on purpose. She told him she longed for a daughter. Nathan had seemed reluctant at the time, but she thought he just didn’t want to go through it again. She never suspected anything was wrong.

“Wendy, you’re doing a mask. I warmed up some tonic for you. You should drink some. I know today was stressful. I had a bowl myself to calm my nerves. You should have some too.” Nathan’s gentle voice filled the room as he placed a bowl on the nightstand.

Wendy deliberately sat up and “accidentally” knocked his hand, spilling some of the liquid.

“Okay, just leave it there. I’ll drink it after I take off my mask. It’s not convenient right now.” Her voice was unchanged, as gentle as always.

Nathan didn’t notice anything amiss. He saw she was busy with her mask, so he set the bowl down and went to take a shower.

The moment he was gone, Wendy quickly took out a small bottle she had prepared and poured some of the tonic into it. The rest she poured out the window. After she was done, she returned to bed.
