Natalie looked around. She had always loved this area; it was so quiet and beautiful at night. “The view here is stunning. But I won’t come in tonight. Maybe we can go for a walk some other time? I actually live right behind you, just two buildings over.” She pointed to a white villa in the distance. “That’s my place.”
Matthew was genuinely surprised. No wonder she had been so willing to leave her marriage with nothing. She didn’t need anything from anyone. She had her own resources and capabilities.
“Goodnight, Natalie,” he said. He walked over and elegantly opened the car door for her.
“Goodnight!” Natalie got in and waved to him as Luna drove away.
Luna now understood she had misjudged her boss. It was all about business. Keith had been trying to set up a meeting with Matthew for ages without any luck. Now, with one move, her boss had secured the partnership, which would cut Keith’s workload in half.
“Boss, I’ll let Keith know the good news right away. He’ll be ecstatic.”
Natalie leaned back, a confident and captivating smile on her face. In this new life, so many things were changing. Staying away from toxic men felt liberating. From now on, she would build her own empire and watch her own fireworks. With Sebastian out of the picture, the whole world felt full of promise. Even after tasting bitterness, she was determined to hold on to her kindness.
“Luna, wait until we sign the contract tomorrow,” she said. “Then you can tell him. Or maybe I’ll go with him to the signing.”
Luna nodded excitedly. “Yes, boss! Let’s bring him along. Keith has been trying to get a meeting with Mr. Monroe forever.”
“Alright, we’ll see about tomorrow.”
“Okay.”
