Called Off the Wedding, Left Him Bankrupt novel Chapter 115

A sharp pain shot through Benedict's chest, his expression twisting in unmistakable panic. When he looked up at Cynthia, he met a wall of cold detachment.

It really felt like he was about to lose her.

The realization was agony. He barely registered the chaos unraveling around him; Cynthia was all he could see.

He took a couple of unsteady steps toward her, but suddenly, someone grabbed his wrist from behind.

He could sense Cynthia's resolve to walk away, and the panic inside him threatened to overwhelm his reason. Desperately, he tried to break free, not caring who was restraining him; he just wanted to get to her.

But quickly, his arms were twisted behind his back and slammed onto the table. Uniformed staff—security or perhaps police—had somehow taken control of the room.

"We've received a report that you orchestrated an attack. We need you to come with us."

Even as he was subdued, Benedict struggled violently.

"This has nothing to do with me! I don't know anything about it!"

He turned his head, searching for Cynthia. "Cynthia, you have to believe me!"

Cynthia turned away, her delicate features impassive.

"Let them investigate. If you're truly innocent, the truth will come out."

Benedict froze, her words like ice water down his spine. He stopped fighting.

"You don't believe me?"

Cynthia said nothing.

His face went ashen. After a long, heavy pause, he finally seemed to understand. His voice was hoarse.

"So this is what you want? To seize control of VistaSphere Group while I'm under investigation? If you'd just asked, do you think I wouldn't have given it to you?"

"Cynthia... why did you have to make things so ugly?"

Cynthia met his eyes with a bright, almost mocking smile.
