The hostess led them into one of The Copper Fork's private dining rooms. Cynthia couldn't help but marvel at how the place had grown only more lavish with each visit.

A waiter appeared with two identical menus, handing one to Cynthia and the other to Dominic.

Cynthia had missed out on the garlic ribs her sister ordered for lunch, so she was just about to mention them when Dominic's low voice beat her to it.

"We'll have the garlic ribs, homestyle pumpkin soup, spicy beef, and the shredded beef stew…"

Every dish he named was one of Cynthia's favorites.

Once he finished ordering, Dominic closed his menu and handed it back to the waiter.

The waiter accepted the menus with a polite smile, noticing Cynthia staring at Dominic in surprise. He asked respectfully, "Would you like to add anything, Miss?"

Cynthia shook her head, closing her menu and handing it over. "No, thank you."

Dominic had already ordered everything she'd been craving.

The waiter's smile remained courteous. "Very well. Please wait just a moment."

Once the waiter left, silence settled over the small room, broken only when Cynthia finally spoke up.

"I didn't realize your taste was so much like mine, Mr. Holloway. Every dish you picked is something I've been longing for. Looks like I'm lucky to be dining with you tonight."

Dominic slid her water glass closer, within easy reach. "It's just a few dishes. If you're so grateful for them, you must've had a rough time in Cloudcrest."

Cynthia hesitated, unsure how to answer.

Dominic took an unhurried sip of water. "If life was so hard there, why'd you go back? You're not still hung up on someone, are you?"

She had just lifted her glass but nearly choked at his words. "Hung—"
