Called Off the Wedding, Left Him Bankrupt novel Chapter 162

If anyone still deserved the title, she was every bit a princess.

Cynthia lowered her eyes, withdrawing her gaze.

Miranda, however, had already noticed their glance. She smiled, warm and gracious, her voice gentle as she spoke.

"I ordered lunch for everyone from Prima Southvale. It should arrive right around noon—if it's not quite to your taste, I hope you'll forgive me."

Her words were polite, yet every gesture radiated natural elegance and an effortless confidence.

A chorus of grateful thanks rose from the office staff.

Prima Southvale—most of them couldn't dream of setting foot in that restaurant.

Yet for Miranda, all it took was a word, and the place sent gourmet meals over as if it were just another takeout order.

Miranda smiled as she stepped into the elevator.

Dominic moved as if to follow, but she lifted a hand, stopping him with a gentle motion just in front of his chest.

She didn't touch him, not quite, but somehow the moment was charged with a quiet intimacy.

"There's no need for formality between us. Don't see me off—go back to work."

Dominic paused, then inclined his head, his voice softer than usual. "Alright. Safe travels, Miranda."

Miranda didn't linger with any sentimental goodbyes. She simply pressed the button to close the elevator doors.

Dominic turned and walked back to his office.

Cynthia sat in a daze at Secretary Sabina's desk, half-listening to the murmur of assistants gossiping nearby.

Everyone envied Miranda's background.

No one could help but be awed by her poise.

Someone like her—unless she did something truly scandalous—would never have to worry about the hardships of ordinary life.

Cynthia pressed her lips together, thinking how different things might have been if her own sister had been born into a family like that.

If her sister had been a Kingsley, she wouldn't have worked herself sick—literally, to the point of stomach cancer—and even while fighting her illness, still had to scheme to fill the pit Terrance had dug for them.

Cynthia's phone buzzed, cutting through the office chatter.
