"Thank you for the compliment, Manager Quincy, but my work is nowhere near as impressive as your design for the Riverside Financial District."
Dominic glanced at Cynthia when he heard her words.
A flicker of surprise crossed Quincy's eyes—he hadn't expected Cynthia to know that the Riverside Financial District was his brainchild.
That project had been his big break at Holloway Enterprises, and he'd always been quietly proud of it.
Their polite small talk was cut short by Dominic, seated at the head of the table.
"You'll have plenty of time to chat after hours."
Cynthia and Quincy immediately fell silent and took their seats.
Dominic's face was unreadable, betraying nothing, yet there was a barely perceptible tension in the air that made it clear he was not pleased.
Quincy sat stiffly in his chair, feeling like he was walking on eggshells.
Cynthia, on the other hand, had grown used to Dominic's mercurial moods over the past few weeks. She didn't find anything out of place, and simply remained quiet.
"Since you're so impressed with her proposal, I'll let Cynthia handle the Cloudcrest City branch project."
"You'll brief her and hand over everything she needs."
Quincy shot Cynthia a quick glance but still nodded.
"Understood, Mr. Holloway."
Cynthia was caught off guard—she'd only just started at Holloway Enterprises, and Dominic was already putting her in charge of the Cloudcrest City project. She didn't refuse; after all, she'd made bold promises when she fought for the job in front of Dominic. Backing down now would make all her previous words seem like empty boasts.
Dominic then asked Quincy to give a quick overview of the Cloudcrest City project.
Cynthia listened carefully, taking in every detail.
