The other side didn't reply, but at least they'd stopped targeting Dominic.
For the third round, Cynthia crouched in the tall grass by the riverbank, watching as the enemy's jungler and mage slipped into a nearby thicket. The corners of her lips curled into a sly smile.
She sent a signal to her teammates—everyone started moving in her direction.
Dominic followed right after.
Cynthia made the first move, ambushing the enemy mage and taking them out. Then, teaming up with Dominic, she finished off their jungler.
As the enemy's champion crumpled, Cynthia clicked to recall right on top of the body, making sure to taunt them before she left.
"Walk into some brush, and out of nowhere I've got two kills? How'd that happen?"
Her jab hit home—the other team fired back in the chat, hurling insults her way.
Cynthia saw that she'd successfully drawn all their attention and grinned to herself.
"Mr. Holloway, come on and get stronger for me. These guys are out for blood."
Dominic glanced over at her and replied with a single word, "Alright."
The enemy team started grouping up, gunning for Cynthia.
Fortunately, her character was nimble, with plenty of escape skills—she always slipped out of their grasp just in time.
The other team kept trash-talking:
"Thought you were tough a second ago! Don't run if you've got guts!"
Cynthia shot back: "Who's running? I'm just out for a walk—with five puppies on my tail. Quiet down, boys."
Dominic glanced at the chat, a faint smile tugging at his lips.
The match dragged on for another half hour, but they clinched the win in the end.
Cynthia had spent last night at the hospital, sitting up late with her sister, only getting home past midnight. This game must have drained her last bit of energy—she yawned the moment it ended.
Back in the game lobby, Dominic didn't instantly queue up for another round, unlike before.
Cynthia glanced over, curious.
"Taking a break, Mr. Holloway?"
Dominic nodded, clicking out of the game.
"Yeah. I need to rest for half an hour. Don't bother me."
Cynthia nodded in understanding.
Cynthia obeyed immediately, setting them aside.
"Sorry, Mr. Holloway, I didn't mean to. I just…"
She hadn't realized just how sensitive his sleep was.
Dominic's gaze was icy. "If I hear one more sound from you, you can pack up and get out of Holloway Enterprises."
Cynthia hesitated, voice small. "Then… can I go read them in the executive office?"
Dominic's face stayed frosty. "No."
"If you must do something, lie down on the couch and rest. Just don't make a sound."
With that, he shut the office door behind him.
Cynthia glanced at the sofa behind her. It was long enough for her to stretch out, sure.
But this was Dominic's office. If she actually lay down there—just sprawled out and napping—it felt… wrong. The image alone made her cringe.
It would completely ruin the vibe of this office. She shook her head at the thought.
In the end, she just leaned forward onto the desk, folded her arms, and stayed as quiet as possible.
