Called Off the Wedding, Left Him Bankrupt novel Chapter 262

Having dinner with Dominic would be pure torture for her—she’d feel more uncomfortable than if someone had put her on trial.

“I’d rather not,” she replied softly.

Assistant Shaw seemed ready to persuade her otherwise, but just then, Jocelyn’s flashy red convertible pulled up right behind Dominic’s car. She spotted them immediately, waving her arms theatrically out the window.

“Cyndi, over here!”

Cynthia’s eyes brightened and she flashed a grateful smile. “Coming!” she called out.

She turned to Assistant Shaw and lowered her voice. “I’ll head out, then.”

Assistant Shaw blinked in surprise but nodded.

Cynthia had barely taken a step when Dominic’s tinted window slid down.

She was about to greet him, but Dominic’s tone was icy as he addressed Assistant Shaw instead. “Are you going to sit here all day, or do you plan on driving?”

Assistant Shaw arched an eyebrow, then slipped back into the driver’s seat.

Cynthia, feeling awkward, mustered a polite farewell. “Mr. Holloway, I’ll be leaving now.”

Dominic glanced up at her, his gaze unreadable. “What’s this—hoping I’ll ask you to stay?”

The question caught her off guard. She stumbled over her words, cheeks flushing. “No, not at all.”

Dominic’s eyes flicked over her gentle features, expression cool. “Well, if not, don’t let me keep you.”

The blunt dismissal left her momentarily speechless, but before she could respond, Jocelyn’s voice rang out from across the parking lot.

“Cyndi, get in! We’re heading out!”
