Called Off the Wedding, Left Him Bankrupt novel Chapter 41

Cynthia stared at the man before her, her face a mask of icy indifference, her eyes brimming with undisguised disgust.

"No."

Benedict recoiled at the unfamiliar coldness in her gaze, a chill settling into his bones. Suddenly, he grabbed her shoulders, pushing her down onto the bed.

"Can we not do this right now? Don't be stubborn with me, not now. I know your body—don't pretend—"

He didn't get to finish. Cynthia's palm cracked across his cheek, the sharp slap echoing through the empty room.

Benedict pressed his tongue to the stinging skin, his eyes narrowing in anger.

He lunged down, crushing his mouth to hers in a bruising, possessive kiss.

Cynthia clamped her teeth together, refusing him.

Benedict's hand clamped around her chin, forcing her jaw open.

Fury ignited inside her. As he tried to deepen the kiss, she bit down, hard.

The tang of blood filled her mouth, metallic and hot.

With a groan of pain, Benedict let go.

Cynthia snatched the glass of water from the nightstand, took a deep swig to rinse her mouth, and spat it into the trash. Her expression left no doubt—she was revolted.

Still gritting his teeth, Benedict leaned in again.

But Cynthia's anger boiled over. Without thinking, she swung the heavy glass at his head.

"Are you really going to force yourself on me in my grandmother's house?" Her voice was sharp and cold.

Benedict reeled, stunned by the blow. Pain throbbed in his forehead where the glass had struck; whatever desire had driven him moments ago was gone.

He stared at Cynthia in disbelief, clearly never expecting her to actually hit him.

Disgust was written all over her face. "Go find someone else. Don't come near me again."

It was as if someone had dumped a bucket of ice water over Benedict's head. He sobered instantly.

His expression darkened. Without another word, he pushed himself off the bed and strode out of the bedroom.
