Called Off the Wedding, Left Him Bankrupt novel Chapter 64

Dominic listened to her analysis, eyes narrowing just slightly.

"If this project is so promising, why not let your sister's company invest?"

She had considered bringing Tremaine Holdings on board for this project. But right now, Tremaine Holdings was mired in complications—internal strife, external pressures, burdened by failing ventures that were dragging it down.

"Tremaine Holdings can't keep carrying those dead weights," Cynthia replied. "It needs to travel lighter, or it won't make it."

A flicker of surprise crossed Dominic's gaze before his expression smoothed. She'd left the Tremaines when she was just seventeen or eighteen, yet she could clearly pinpoint the company's problems. No wonder she'd managed to build VistaSphere Group from scratch, without any backing, into what it was today.

"So, Miss Tremaine, what would you have me do?"

Cynthia met his eyes with steady resolve. "Compete for it. Fight for the chance to make Holloway Enterprises the leading firm in Cloudcrest City. The best attract competition—people and projects both."

Dominic studied her, his look deep and unreadable. Under his gaze, Cynthia's heart thudded in her chest. She couldn't be sure she'd convinced him to back Valmont Holdings' proposal. After all, her claim about putting Holloway Enterprises at the top of Cloudcrest City was a bit of an exaggeration.

For a moment, silence hung between them. Then, clear as day, Cynthia heard his decision.

"All right," Dominic said. "Let's see what the competition's really like."

He was interested—Cynthia's spirits lifted at once.

Dominic tore his gaze from her, stood, and strode for the door. Cynthia hurried to follow.

A driver was already waiting for them at the elevator with another car. As Cynthia was about to mention her phone was still in the previous car, the driver handed it to her, anticipating her need.
