Called Off the Wedding, Left Him Bankrupt novel Chapter 72

Mr. Fletcher was the first to lose patience. He excused himself politely.

"Mr. Shepard, my wife and kids are waiting for me at home. I should be going. You all carry on—let's catch up another day."

Benedict arched an eyebrow and nodded. "Of course. Family always comes first."

Mr. Fletcher turned to leave.

But Benedict, watching him go, called after him, "By the way, Hugo, you see how our VistaSphere Group is already working with Holloway Enterprises. Holloway's planning big things here in Cloudcrest City. With the momentum we're building, I don't think any company would quibble over a few points of profit. If you decide you're in, just have your team draft up the renewal contract."

Cynthia had already discussed Holloway's interest in collaborating with Novalith Technologies, and Jenny had let slip that Cynthia had helped her secure investment from Holloway Enterprises.

Mr. Fletcher had weathered too many storms in the business world not to see what was really going on.

Cynthia and Benedict ran VistaSphere Group together, yet Cynthia was bringing in outside investors for Jenny and had introduced Mr. Holloway to him as well.

Anyone with sense could spot the tension beneath the surface.

He and Jenny had both seen the ugly side of Benedict before, so they chose to keep quiet.

By calling him out in front of so many partners, Benedict was making his point clear—not just to Mr. Fletcher, but to everyone. The message was obvious: VistaSphere Group was playing in a new league now, and if anyone wanted to stay in the game, they'd better be ready to make some sacrifices.

The room went silent, all eyes on Mr. Fletcher, waiting to see his response.

If he agreed to Benedict's terms, the others would likely follow suit, renegotiating their contracts before they expired.

But Mr. Fletcher showed no hint of displeasure. He simply replied, polite as ever, "That's something I'll have to give some thought to."

Benedict strode over and clapped a hand on Mr. Fletcher's shoulder, paying no mind to the fact that Fletcher was more than a decade his senior.

Glancing back at Benedict, Mr. Fletcher replied in a low voice, "The higher you climb, the harder you fall. Perhaps you should advise Mr. Shepard to tread carefully, Miss Tremaine."

Cynthia smiled softly, her voice gentle. "Why would I? Let him build his tower, let him throw his grand parties, and let him be the last one left in the empty hall. Isn't that the best reminder for the rest of us?"

With those words, Mr. Fletcher understood her perfectly.

After so many years working together, Cynthia knew Mr. Fletcher's character.

As for Benedict, giving a senior partner such public humiliation was unforgivable, no matter what the future held between VistaSphere Group and Holloway Enterprises. Mr. Fletcher would never work with them again.

Cynthia might be leaving VistaSphere Group and Cloudcrest City behind, but she knew the value of these connections and intended to keep them.

Once she returned to The Capital, she would consult with her sister about launching a new department. With these relationships, getting started would be far easier than when VistaSphere Group was just a name on a door.
