Isabella slept soundly through the night. She noticed her sleep quality had really improved and figured having Theodore beside her was probably the reason. Plus, she no longer jolted awake at the slightest sound in the middle of the night.

Breakfast was waiting for her when she got up that morning. After a good night's sleep and a proper meal, she felt much better about going to work. When she stepped into the elevator, she ran into Jessie.

Seeing Isabella, Jessie pursed her lips and asked, "Doesn't the secretary's office staff start work at 9:30 am? Why are you here so early?"

"True, but who else is going to handle those files stacked like a mountain besides me? If I don't finish them, I'll be fired," Isabella said helplessly.

Given Alexander's obvious attempts to make her life difficult at every turn, it was unclear when he might decide to fire her.

Jessie smiled and said, "No way. You're talented and hardworking. Mr. Sinclair will definitely recognize what you bring to the table."

Isabella just smiled, choosing not to reply.

Jessie suddenly leaned close and whispered, "You won't believe this. Lisa was running her mouth in the office, saying you secretly seduced Mr. Sinclair to land the secretary job. I was so pissed that I snapped at her. Does she think everyone's like her, with zero skills and just sleeping her way to the top?"

Upon hearing that, Isabella wasn't as furious as Jessie. Given her ongoing feud with Lisa, it was understandable for Lisa to spread rumors about her. Besides, the main reason Isabella got the secretary position was indeed due to her past connection with Alexander.

"Don't worry, Isabella," Jessie continued. "No one in our department sided with that homewrecker. We all know what kind of person she is."

"Thanks," Isabella said with a smile.

"Don't mention it. That's what friends do."

Just then, the elevator doors opened. Isabella smiled and nudged Jessie out, saying, "I'll treat everyone to a meal when I have time."
