At the office, Theodore's calm voice came through the phone.

"I've already asked Caleb to handle this. You don't need to worry."

Even over the receiver, Alexander felt the weight behind his uncle's words.

Theodore had always been someone he both respected and feared. A simple plagiarism dispute catching Theodore's attention made it clear that he valued the Silvershore branch highly.

"Don't worry, Uncle Theo. I can manage the branch. I've spent the past few days taking over operations and reviewing all the projects," Alexander said confidently.

"Mm," Theodore replied nonchalantly.

Alexander found it puzzling. His uncle didn't seem to be taking the matter very seriously, and, as always, his thoughts were impossible to read.

A moment later, Theodore added, "I'll be hosting a family dinner in a few days. Invite Natalie too. It's time to start preparing for your engagement."

Alexander's jaw tightened when he heard Natalie's name. They had only met three times, yet now they were supposed to be married because his mother, Amelia Milarky, insisted.

Natalie Logan was the Logan family's only daughter, and it made sense that Amelia wanted his future to have their backing. But that was before he'd run into Isabella again. Now, he had no interest in going through with the engagement.

"Uncle Theo, I hear you're married now? Which family is she from?" Alexander asked.

He'd never known Theodore to date anyone. Deep down, he'd assumed that if his uncle ever married, it would be for an arranged match. After all, Theodore had always been a workaholic, wholly devoted to his career.

But Theodore answered softly, "She's just an ordinary woman, not from a prominent family. But to me, she's very special."

Alexander froze. He had never heard Theodore speak with such tenderness.
