"What's wrong?" Theodore asked softly.
Isabella put her phone away, forcing a smile. "It's my boss. Probably trying to dump more work on me again."
"How's your relationship with your boss?" he asked next.
She pouted, grumbling in frustration, "Awful! The only joy he gets at work is making things difficult for me!
"Breakfast has to come from that one place he likes, and his coffee has to be kept at the exact temperature he wants. He's nothing but a spoiled, self-centered prince who's never experienced any hardships in life!
"If he hadn't been born into money, someone as rude, arrogant, and stuck-up as him couldn't have survived this long with that nasty temper! He would've been beaten to death already!"
Theodore listened as Isabella ranted about Alexander. Her expressions were animated and cute, but uneasiness tightened in his chest.
She chattered on for a while before realizing her voice was the only one filling the car. Feeling embarrassed, she turned to him and asked, "Sorry, am I being too noisy?"
He shook his head and adjusted the jacket she was wearing. Nathan had torn her clothes earlier, so now, all she had on under his jacket was her bra.
"What kind of person do you think I am?" he asked after he was done.
She froze, not sure why he'd suddenly ask something like that. She thought for a moment before answering, "You're a really good person. You're gentle, and you treat me so well, better than anyone else I know."
He kept his eyes on her. Her expression was sincere, and all her words were genuine. But it didn't ease the knot in his chest.
He didn't want her calling him a good person. Instead, he wanted her heart.
"Mr. Sinclair, we've arrived," the driver said.
She finally remembered to ask, "Wait, you called a driver? Did you drink tonight?" She hadn't smelled any alcohol on him.
"I don't drink," Theodore replied. "The guy's my friend."
