Cheated Once Cherished Forever: The Billionaire's Bride novel Chapter 39

"Isabella! You've got some nerve!" Alexander hurled his phone across the room.

Greg happened to walk in just then, and the sight startled him so much he jumped back a few steps. With a teasing tone, he asked, "Whoa, what's with the temper?"

Alexander shot him a glare and stayed quiet.

Greg was long used to his unpredictable moods, so he didn't take it to heart. "Whatever's going on, put it aside for now. Tonight's your big confession! Everything's already set up. Do you want to go check it out first?"

Alexander snapped, still fuming, "What's there to check? Isabella's not even free tonight!"

Greg was stunned. "Not free? You're her boss. Just make up some excuse and get her there!"

"Make up an excuse? You clearly don't get how much she's changed. She's stubborn as hell. One wrong word and she blows up! Honestly, she feels more like my boss."

Greg scratched his head. "So… are you not confessing tonight? What about tomorrow then?"

Right then, Alexander's phone rang. It was a call from his mother. He drew in a breath before picking up.

"Alex, don't forget to pick up Natalie for the family dinner tonight," Amelia reminded.

"Family dinner? Tonight?" Alexander frowned. He remembered Theodore mentioning a family dinner, but he thought it'd be in a few days. Why the rush?

Amelia's voice dripped with disdain. "Theodore said he's got some big announcement to make. Who knows what he's plotting now?"

Amelia had never liked Theodore. In her eyes, he'd stolen the family's power that should have belonged to Alexander. She never once considered that even if that seat was given to Alexander, he might not be able to hold it.

As for Alexander himself, he didn't really care much about that position.

"Do you know what he's planning to announce?" she pressed.
