Theodore's words had been an official announcement. From now on, Isabella would be in charge of the entire Sinclair family. Even Amelia would have to listen to her. It was the kind of honor people could only envy.

"Isabella!"

"Hi, Isabella!"

"Isabella, I'm Theodore's cousin. I run a beauty salon. You should come by sometime when you're free."

One after another, people greeted her warmly.

Isabella felt awkward, unused to being the center of so much attention. Deep down, she knew it was only because of Theodore. Who knew what they truly thought of her?

Suddenly, her phone rang. She quickly excused herself and took it out. Seeing Richard's name on the screen, her first reaction was not to answer. If she hadn't been looking for an excuse to slip away, she would've ignored the call.

"I'm going to take this outside," she told Theodore, giving his hand a quick tug. Without waiting for his reply, she turned and walked out.

As soon as she stepped into the garden, she felt like she could finally breathe again. Then, she answered the call.

"Isabella…" Richard's voice carried a note of pleading.

Her brow furrowed, sensing something bad was coming. "Mr. Moore, we've already signed the agreement. I don't have any connection to your family anymore. Why are you calling me now?"

"Isabella, don't talk like that. We raised you for more than 20 years." He sounded as if he was begging, but there was still that hint of threat underneath.

She laughed coldly. "Mr. Moore, did you forget that I already gave you five million dollars to cover all those years you claim you 'raised' me?", she said, stressing the word "raise".

How ironic. Only they knew what those years had really been like.

"Isabella, can money measure family ties?"

"Mr. Moore, don't start with me. If you think money can't measure our bond, then return the five million dollars to me. I'll go back to being your daughter, spend every holiday with you, and take care of you. How about that?"
