"Isabella! Don't go too far!" Alexander snapped the moment she called herself his aunt and flared up instantly.

Isabella shrugged casually, treating him like a spoiled child throwing a tantrum.

Alexander suddenly stepped in front of her. He glanced around the garden, then asked, "Did your foster parents sell you to my uncle? How much did he pay them?"

She couldn't help but laugh. "Mr. Sinclair, have you been watching too many soap operas? Who still sells their daughter in this day and age? Don't be ridiculous. I'll head in first."

"Isabella!" He grabbed her wrist in one quick move. She tried to yank free, but the harder she pulled, the tighter his grip became. It felt like her bones would snap any minute.

Frowning, she glared at him and said sharply, "Mr. Sinclair, show some respect!"

He ignored her and pulled her closer. If she hadn't carefully controlled her movements, they'd already be pressed together. She instinctively stepped back, keeping some distance between them. But he refused to let go, and they stood there locked in a silent tug-of-war.

"Isabella! I'm helping you!" Alexander said firmly.

"Helping me with what?" she shot back. "If anyone saw you manhandling me like this, you wouldn't be helping me but ruining me!"

He glanced down at her wrist, red from his grip, and reluctantly released her before muttering, "Can you at least hear me out first?"

She raised an eyebrow, a little amused to see the proud Alexander looking like this. "Go ahead."

He took a moment to organize his words, then said, "How much did Uncle Theo give you? I can help you pay it back."

She frowned, studying him, not quite following where he was going with this.

He awkwardly turned his head, explaining with a hint of embarrassment, "Since we know each other, I can do you this favor. You can pay me back later… when you have the money."

"Like I said, Mr. Sinclair, there's no business deal between Theodore and me!"

Alexander clearly didn't believe her.
