The next morning, as soon as Isabella stepped into the office, Alexander came out of his office and headed straight toward her.

Isabella froze, unsure what he was up to.

He reached her side, grabbed her hand, and started walking. "Come with me."

She struggled but couldn't break free, and she didn't dare yell. She tamped down her anger and asked, "What are you doing? Alexander, why are you acting crazy this early in the morning?"

Ignoring her, he pulled her into his office, closed the door, and locked it.

She panicked, her eyes narrowing as she watched him carefully.

Once inside, he let go of her hand. He turned and stared at her deeply with his hands on his hips, exhaling slowly before saying, "Isabella, I don't care what kind of relationship you have with Uncle Theo. If you don't want to talk about it, I won't push, but you have to let me finish what I have to say."

"And what do you want to say?" she asked.

"Two years ago," he began, "my grandfather suddenly fell ill, and the Sinclair family's business empire hit a crisis. Before, he had been grooming me to be the next head of the Sinclair family.

"Uncle Theo had already started his own business in college, and after graduation, his company gained some fame overseas. Within a few years, he had his own empire and didn't need the Sinclair family's influence.

"But my grandfather passed so suddenly that if I had taken over, no one would have accepted it. That's why Uncle Theo came back to take control."

She listened quietly, wanting to understand more about Theodore. Last night, she had slept in the guest room. Learning his identity suddenly left her mind in chaos, unsure how to face him. She needed time to process it, and Theodore had said he'd give her time, as long as it wasn't too long.

"Isabella, I've always respected Uncle Theo," Alexander continued. "I thought he didn't care about being the head of the family. After all, he's so capable. What does the Sinclair family even mean to him?"

She looked at him and could see in his expression that he truly respected Theodore. But the next second, his face turned gloomy. "But I was wrong! From the start, he's been treating me as a threat.

"He planned against me! He wanted to compete with me for control of the Sinclair family!"
