Isabella asked with feigned casualness, "Why can Ms. Klein drink alcohol while I can't? Are you practicing double standards, Mr. Sinclair?"

Nobody was aware that she was already fuming.

Theodore had actually brought home another woman in front of her, his legal wife. Moreover, he hadn't even given her an explanation for it, which proved he had absolutely no regard for her.

"You're a lightweight, Bella. You can't drink."

Isabella smiled faintly and didn't refute his argument. Instead, she stood up and got ready to head upstairs to bed.

Theodore hurriedly stood up as well and scooped her into his arms before she could react.

She demanded, "Put me down, Mr. Sinclair. I can walk on my own."

He acted as if he hadn't heard her and carried her upstairs in long strides. He didn't let her go until he had leaned over the bed and set her down on it. Just as he was about to straighten up, she suddenly reached out and wrapped her arms around his neck.

Afraid that he would lose his balance and crush her with his body weight, Theodore had no choice but to brace both hands against the bed. He stared down at Isabella like a hawk. "What do you want, brat?"

"How long will Ms. Klein be staying here?" Isabella asked bluntly.

Theodore replied, "She's back in Alverton on business this time. She'll probably be staying for one to two weeks."

"Two weeks is a long time. Why doesn't she stay at a hotel?"

Theodore gazed down at Isabella. He had probably realized that she was a little unhappy, but he still replied, "Queenie's not used to staying in hotels. Moreover, it's more hygienic to eat the food that our housekeepers make at home."

"Are the two of you really just friends?" Isabella asked again.

Theodore nodded.

She didn't believe that a thoughtful person like Theodore wouldn't be able to tell that she minded Queenie's presence a lot, but he simply refused to explain things to her.

She let go of Theodore and lay down, saying, "I'm going to sleep."

Theodore called out, "Bella…"

However, she buried herself under the covers, ignoring him.

By the time he washed up and came out of the bathroom, she still hadn't fallen asleep yet. She was just pretending to be asleep.
