"Of course not. You're my wife, not my maid. You don't have to know how to do these things when we're already married," Theodore answered.
Queenie turned livid. The way she glared at Isabella was as if she wanted to burn a hole right through her.
Just then, Ruth served up a plate of brussels sprouts and bacon, beaming. She placed the dish right before Isabella and said, "Mrs. Sinclair, Mr. Sinclair asked me to make this dish specifically. He said that it's something you like to eat."
Theodore picked up a spoon and scooped up some brussels sprouts for Isabella. "A friend of mine planted these on a mountain themselves. Try them and see if they're to your liking."
Isabella took a bite, then nodded in surprise. She couldn't help but compliment, "They're delicious! These are the best-tasting brussels sprouts I've ever eaten. They have a natural sweetness."
She then turned to Ruth. "This tastes really good. Ruth, with cooking skills like this, you're ready to open a restaurant of your own!"
Ruth was over the moon after hearing Isabella's compliments. She smiled from ear to ear as she replied bashfully, "The ingredients used were fresh. Ms. Klein went to harvest them today."
"She did?"
That meant that Queenie went to harvest the vegetables at Theodore's friend's place. In other words, she harvested them from a mutual friend of theirs, someone Isabella had never met.
They had mutual friends, similar experiences, and a lot in common to talk about. Isabella, on the other hand, seemed more like a third party who had swooped in when she found a chance to do so.
"That's right, Mrs. Sinclair. Ms. Klein even injured her hand because of this."
Isabella glanced at Queenie's hand, only to see that there was indeed an adhesive bandage stuck to it.
"Thank you, Ms. Klein."
Queenie forced a smile and replied, "No worries."
She had gone to Yannick Jones' mountain villa for fun this morning. When she saw the fresh brussels sprouts, she called Theodore with the intention of inviting him to join her.
If they spent more time together, he would remember how wonderful their time going through thick and thin together was. However, it was a pity that Theodore said that he didn't have time. Though, he told her that she could bring some of the harvest back.
Queenie had the impression that he was the one who liked brussels sprouts. Thus, she harvested them with all her might, refusing to stop even when she hurt her hand. Who would have thought that it was actually Isabella who liked brussels sprouts?
Queenie gritted her teeth. She had no choice but to hold back her dissatisfaction.
"Ms. Moore, since you're such a fan of brussels sprouts, shall we harvest more together tomorrow? Come and relax on the weekend."
It was the weekend tomorrow.
