The moment Theodore and Isabella stepped out the door, Amelia flung the teacup in her hand right to the floor.
"What the hell? I'll make all of you grovel at my feet and plead with me one day!" she yelled.
The maids got on their knees to carefully clean up the mess. As staff members who had been working at the Sinclair residence for years, they had gotten a good grasp of Amelia's character.
At times like this, the best course of action was for them to pretend like they were invisible. Otherwise, they would just end up becoming Amelia's punching bag.
Back when Jeffrey was still alive, their lives as maids were slightly easier. Even though Jeffrey was strict, he had always treated them fairly. He was unlike Amelia, who would blow up at them for no reason.
Amelia ordered in a rage, "Go and get Alexander to come downstairs!"
"Will do, Mrs. Sinclair," a maid replied.
Before the maid could even head upstairs, they heard Alexander's voice coming from the top of the stairs. "What now?"
Although his voice was a little hoarse, he sounded like he had completely sobered up.
The tall Alexander descended the stairs in loungewear, still with the bearing of a young nobleman.
When Amelia saw that he had come downstairs, she glared at him. Sarcastically, she asked, "You've sobered up? That was quick."
Alexander did not respond to her. He simply lounged on the couch and instructed a maid, "Get me a cup of iced water."
The maid turned around to leave when Amelia commanded, "Forget that iced water. Aren't you aware of the state of your own stomach? Do you want to go through another hemorrhagic episode? Get him a cup of warm water!"
Alexander did not protest. All he did was give the maid a quiet glance. When the maid handed him the water, it was iced. They worked together so well that they didn't even exchange a glance.
Alexander finished over half the water in a single breath. When he set his cup down, he inquired casually, "Has Isabella left?"
By asking that question, he re-ignited Amelia's fury even though she had just simmered down a little. She shot him a look of disdain, questioning in a mocking voice, "Why did I ever give birth to such a disappointment like you? You've had access to all kinds of women around you all these years. Why are you so hung up on Isabella? What's so good about her?"
Alexander kept his mouth shut, as if he hadn't heard Amelia's words at all.
"Alexander! I'm talking to you. Did you hear me?" Amelia yelled.
He opened his mouth, then muttered unwillingly, "Yeah."
