Theodore and Isabella returned home and opened the door. The lights in the living room weren't on. Only the light from the streetlamps outside shone into the living room, making the space appear exceptionally quiet.
Isabella blurted, "Oh?"
She tilted her head and studied Theodore with a raised brow. After turning on the lights, he took Isabella by the hand and led her indoors while explaining, "I have a friend who happens to be traveling overseas now. Their place is vacant, so I told Queenie to stay there instead."
So, that was how it was…
Isabella nodded.
All of a sudden, Theodore bent forward and picked her up in a bridal carry, causing her to shriek in surprise. Out of reflex, she encircled her arms around his neck in case she fell.
"Put me down, Theodore. I can walk."
Nevertheless, Theodore carried her to their room upstairs in big strides. In a deep and slightly husky voice, he said, "We have the place to ourselves today, Bella. Save some energy."
Isabella was taken aback for a couple of seconds when she heard that. Then, her face flushed red in an instant. "Why, you—"
She tightened her grasp on his collar, and her ears went red. She hadn't even strung her words together to argue back when she was gently lowered onto the soft mattress in the bedroom.
Theodore propped himself up over her. His warm breath brushed across her blushing cheeks as he gazed at her tenderly. "Bella… You're really going to get it from me."
Upon hearing that, Isabella looked at him with an innocent stare. Perplexed, she blinked.
Theodore lifted a hand and gave her a gentle pinch on her nose. "Your first punishment is because you left the mountain villa without saying a word and made me worried."
Isabella lowered her head. That was indeed her fault, but she was just a little frustrated at the time. She was mad at Queenie and Theodore's bunch of friends, but more than that, she was pissed at Theodore himself. She couldn't be bothered with them, so she left.
"Your second punishment…" Theodore paused, gazing deeply at Isabella, who lifted her head and looked back at him.
"...is because you went to see Alexander on your own even though you were clearly aware that he was drunk. Bella, all drunk men are dangerous—"
Isabella harrumphed softly in disapproval. She interjected, "You're dangerous too…"
Theodore chuckled by her ear. In the next second, she felt a gentle nibble on her earlobe, and her ears flushed red instantly.
"In that case, I'll show you how bad I can be."
Right after saying that, he covered her in smooches.
Isabella felt the heat spread from her ears to her entire body, but suddenly, Theodore stopped all that he was doing.
She was left in a daze as he said, "But first, go and take a bath."
Isabella hadn't gotten over her shyness from earlier, so all she could do was nod absently. In the next second, Theodore picked her up and carried her into the bathroom.
