Marge patted him on the shoulder. “I’ll come over once I’m done here.” Then she raised her voice for everyone to hear, “If you need anything, just call out for me.”

Once she disappeared inside, Charlotte didn’t linger long on the patio. She excused herself to use the restroom and slipped into the house.

Judd’s gaze followed her as she left, lost in thought.

Inside, Marge was polishing glasses behind the bar—alone, the room a sharp contrast to the lively chatter outside.

She looked up at the sound of the bell above the door. When she saw it was Charlotte, her lips curled into a smile. “How’s your anxiety these days? It hasn’t gotten worse, has it?”

Charlotte lowered her eyes. “Not really.”

Marge nodded, her smile tinged with relief. “That’s good. It means your condition’s manageable. You don’t need to rely so much on medication, or worry about all those side effects.”

Charlotte glanced around the cozy room, then back at Marge. “I didn’t expect you to run a late-night bistro. What about your practice during the day?”

“I closed it,” Marge replied simply.

Charlotte blinked, surprised. “Closed?”

Placing the polished glass on the rack, Marge shrugged. “I was a therapist for seven, eight years. After a while, I felt like I needed therapy myself. So I shut it down.”

Charlotte fell silent.

The bell on the door jingled again. She turned just as Judd stepped inside.

Marge leaned her elbows on the bar. “Long time no see, old friend. What can I get you?”

“Tequila. Straight.”

“You never change, do you?” Marge laughed, turning to grab a bottle. “Always the same order.” As she poured, Judd added, “And get her a drink too.”

Marge shot them a look.

Charlotte hesitated. “I’ve already got a drink outside…”

“Maybe take it easy on the alcohol. It’s not good for you,” Judd said, deadpan.

She arched a brow. “And you’re drinking?”
