Cold Husband Burning Regret: The Divorce He Couldn't Handle novel Chapter 436

Vickie stood there, stunned and dripping, before shrieking, "How dare you! Charlotte, I'll have you reported for this!"

The commotion drew the attention of the entire office.

Charlotte pointed to the security camera. "Go ahead. Did you think that camera was just for decoration? It sees everything a non-employee does in this research department. And don't think I'll tolerate your behavior just because you work for Mrs. Carstairs. If this gets back to Old Mr. Carstairs, I doubt even she could protect you."

At the mention of Old Mr. Carstairs, Vickie's face paled. She bit her tongue, swallowing her rage. "You just wait!" she seethed, before storming off.

Charlotte watched her go, fuming. "What a psycho."

"Ms. Sterling, she really did bump into me…" the employee said, still shaken from the incident.

Charlotte offered a reassuring look. "I know it wasn't your fault. Don't worry about it."

"But your hand…"

She glanced down at the burn. The skin was red and swollen, and a throbbing, numb pain was setting in.

"I'll go get it looked at."

She left the office and headed to the clinic to treat her burn.

As Judd was returning to his office, he overheard two colleagues talking. He paid them no mind until he heard the name "Ms. Sterling."

"Did Ms. Sterling get on someone's bad side? That woman was clearly targeting her."

"I heard Ms. Sterling mention someone who works for Mrs. Carstairs. You don't think it's *the* Mrs. Carstairs, do you?"

"All I know is, poor Ms. Sterling. A burn that bad from water that hot? I'd be screaming my head off."

Judd stopped in his tracks, his eyes turning cold.

At the Carstairs estate, Daphne and Yolanda Carstairs were having tea in the living room. "Yolanda," Daphne began, setting down her cup, "your grandmother wants to arrange a marriage for you. I told her we should wait until after you've graduated to discuss such things. What do you think?"

Yolanda paused, then smiled at her mother. "Whatever you think is best."

"I knew I could count on you," Daphne said, stroking her daughter's hair. A hint of sadness crept into her eyes. "If only your brother were as sensible as you."
