Cold Husband Burning Regret: The Divorce He Couldn't Handle novel Chapter 441

"We've known each other for years. I know you inside and out," Neely said, slowly rising and walking toward her. "You were planning to use Finnick's child to control me, weren't you? Finnick may not care about the boy, but I do. He's the only Vinterberg heir, my only grandson. Who knows if there will be another."

Zoe remained impassive as she moved to a nearby chair. "Miss Lennox is perfectly capable of having children. Did you really think I could control you with that boy?"

"Whether she has children is another matter entirely," Neely said, stopping in front of her. He leaned in close, a sneer on his face. "Or perhaps you, at your age, could give me another son. That's always an option."

"You're insane!" Zoe snapped. The mere mention of children was a raw nerve, a painful reminder of the stillborn child she had lost so many years ago.

Neely straightened up and walked to the floor-to-ceiling window, his back to her. "I've invited someone very special to my son's wedding. The man you've been pining for all these years—Sean Rayburn."

A jolt went through Zoe. "Why would you invite him?"

"What, you still care about him?"

She didn't answer.

Neely's eyes turned cold. "Not only him, but the Carstairs, the Howards—nearly every prominent family in Riverspire City will be there. And when they are, I will make them all understand the injustice and pain I suffered."

Zoe shot to her feet. "What does any of that have to do with Sean?"

"How could it not have anything to do with him?" Neely turned, his gaze pinning her. "Since my woman hasn't been able to forget him after all these years, I'll just have to kill him."

Zoe took a deep breath and turned her head away. "Neely, what was between us is over. I am not your woman!"

"How could it be over?" Neely's eyes were dark with a terrifying obsession. "It will never be over between us. Not until I'm dead. Until then, any man you get close to, I will kill. Just like I did with the last one."

A shiver ran down Zoe's spine as a bloody image flashed in her mind.

Neely pulled her into his arms, a twisted smile on his face. "You and I are the same, Zoe. For the rest of your life, you will have no one but me."
