When Gramps Hopper heard that Owen was sending Eve back to her parents' home, his eyes gleamed with thoughts, then acquiesced without saying anything more.
After Owen headed out with Eve, Howard asked, "Dad, didn't you say we shouldn't care about Eve?" "Well, I think Owen had something to say to her. It's okay. Let him be. He knows what he should do." If it were Florence, Gramps Hopper would be afraid that she would be tempted by Eve.
On the way.
Watching Eve crying since she got in the car, Owen steered the wheel with one hand and handed her a tissue with the other. "Mom, don't cry. What if granny asks about it later?"
Eve quickly received the tissue and carefully wiped her tears away. She replied, "Owen, if she asks later, don't tell her that I was chased back by your grandfather. Okay?"
"Okay," Owen answered. "Mom, I have something to say to you."
Go on."
"If you want to restore the relationship you have with Patrick, I have a suggestion."
Eve immediately stop crying and asked, "What is it?"
"Rebuild your relationship with Amelia first," answered Owen.
Eve recoiled at the idea with her whole being. "That's impossible!"
"Then are you going to spend the rest of your life living like this with Patrick, Dad, me, gramps and granny?" Owen asked realistically.
"What do you mean?" Did he mean that if she did not reconcile with Amelia, Gramps Hopper would never allow her to go back?
Eve guessed right. Owen continued, "Gramps told me that unless you realize your mistake, no one is allowed to take you back."
"Who said I don't realize that I was wrong? You saw me kneeling and begging for your grandfather's forgiveness!" Eve responded, irked.
"Mom, don't tell me you still don't know who you should actually apologize to. You didn't do gramps wrong. You should be apologizing to Amelia! And her and Patrick's child! If you were willing to apologize to her just now, gramps wouldn't have been so mad to evict you out of the mansion. Do you finally know what you've done wrong now?"
Eve answered in a clear voice, "Owen, I really can't apologize to her. Please don't make it hard for me, okay?"
Owen was silent at her reply. As the eldest grandson of the family, he had already done his part by persuading Eve to do the right thing. The rest was up to Eve to figure out herself.
The next day.
After seeing Patrick off to work, Amelia began to busy herself with the small garden at home.
Time passed. Just as she remembered to drink some water, she saw Granny Hopper carrying two huge bags and coming towards her.
Then, Amelia suddenly remembered that Granny Hopper had mentioned she was going to visit her. So, Amelia put down the tools in her hands and got up, unlocked the fence to welcome Granny Hopper in.
"Granny, what did you bring?" Amelia asked while trying to take the two bags from her hands.
But Granny Hopper refused, "They're just some bird's nest. It's not heavy. I can take them."
Amelia was amused, "Since it's not heavy, I can help you." "No need, no need. Aren't we close to the house?
There are just a few steps more. I can do it." Granny Hopper avoided Amelia offer again and asked, "Amelia, why are your hands so dirty?"
"I was tidying up the garden."
Granny Hopper glanced around before saying, "Amelia, please don't think I'm being long-winded. You can do it to keep up your mood, but don't keep squatting. Find a small stool to sit down and work on the garden in the future. Okay?"
"Got it, granny!" Amelia responded obediently and assisted Granny Hopper by her arm to relieve the burden as much as possible. "The weather is hot, so let's go into the house quickly."
"Okay, okay."
As soon as they entered the house, Granny Hopper immediately showed Amelia what she brought. Looking at the supplements on the table, some of which looked familiar, Amelia could not help asking, "Granny, are these the birthday gifts the guests gave gramps last night?"
"You have such a keen eye!" Granny Hopper answered kindly, "Those people are close to your grandfather. So, I don't think they dare to send fakes. These are much more reliable than me going to the store to pick them myself."
Amelia felt embarrassed and said, "Granny, if you give them to me, how about you and grandpa? No, you'd better take them back. If I need it, Mr. Hopper will buy it."
Granny Hopper's excited tone suddenly became aggrieved. "Amelia, are you looking down on the things granny brought for you?"
"I'm not. I just..."
Granny Hopper then put away her grievances and continued, "Then don't refuse me. I'll help you store them in the kitchen. Oh, by the way, I'm not in a hurry to go back. So, let me I'll cook a pot of bird's nest for you."
Amelia was defeated when she saw Granny Hopper was as thrilled as a child. So, she let her be.
"By the way, granny," Amelia, who was following Granny Hopper, asked carefully. "Did Ms. Watson really move out from the Hopper mansion?"
"It can't be so soon!" After the interruption, Granny Hopper was distracted and continued, "I came here today to ask for your and Amelia's birth charts. I have a friend who's excellent in this field. I'll have to ask her on the phone..."
Granny Hopper could not stop talking, and Patrick listened on with a smile.
Then, Amelia came over to them. Granny Hopper stopped and asked, "Amelia, you're here at the right time. What's your birth chart?"
"Huh?" Amelia was stunned. "What?"
Granny Hopper asked in surprise, "When you first got married, didn't you use your birth chart?"
"No, we married on our parents' order. So, and we didn't have to use our birth chart," Amelia answered honestly.
Granny Hopper uttered anxiously, "How about you find out about it?"
The smile on Amelia's face vanished. For things like her birth chart, she could forget about it. She was afraid she would only find out her certificate of adoption from the orphanage.
Patrick saw Amelia's uneasiness and added, "Granny, leave it to me. I'll give you our birth
charts."
Granny Hopper spared Amelia and happily agreed.
When she saw that it was almost time for her to head back, she said, "I'll go back first. Amelia, don't forget to eat the bird's nest that I stewed in the kitchen."
"Okay. Thank you, granny."
"You don't need to thank me!" Granny Hopper said as she patted Amelia's tender cheek. She doted Amelia from the bottom of her heart. "I can't wait for you to grow fatter."
"Fatter? You're talking about a piglet, right?" When Patrick saw Amelia turned solemn, he cracked a joke deliberately.
"What are you talking about, boy? I'm saying she should be plump. Don't talk nonsense!" Granny Hopper rolled her eyes at Patrick and said, "Bye-bye. I'll go first."
"Granny, let Mr. Hopper send you home!" said Amelia anxiously.
"No, no need. You're living in a good location. I can just call a taxi. I'm not fussy about it."
Even so, Amelia still insisted to let Patrick send her back. After all, granny was old. What if something happened on the way back?
