“You’re not just messing with me, right?” Yvonne asked, suspicious.

Hull looked at the screen again, Silas giving him a thumbs-up—target found.

Hull’s smile turned colder. “Why would I mess with you? Are you bringing her back yourself, or should I come pick her up?”

His tone was playful now, almost teasing, like an older brother winding up his little sister.

Yvonne didn’t catch the shift. “I’ll bring her back, don’t worry. She’ll be there, safe and sound, no missing pieces.”

“I want to see her tonight.”

Yvonne gaped—wow, Susanna must really mean something to Hull. She’d better be careful with her going forward, make sure not to let anything happen to her.

After that, Yvonne just hung up and turned to Chloe.

“Wow, he really would give up anything for her.”

Chloe snickered. “Told you. Word’s out all over Ferrowland—Hull’s willing to trade anything. You finally believe me now?”

Yvonne nodded, grinning. “Didn’t see that coming.”
