Nancy’s eyes widened in realization. She remembered using those very words with Ariel during the celebration party for their project’s success. Now, those same words were being turned against her, mocking and humiliating her.

Matt watched this unfold, seeing Ariel cold and resolute for the first time. His eyes then landed on Jayson. He struggled to suppress the shock and disbelief within him.

Nancy’s breath came in uneven gasps. As she stared at Ariel’s retreating back, the bottled–up emotions spilled over. Her pride and reputation meant nothing now.

With a cold expression, Nancy lunged forward, clicking sharply in her heels. She grabbed Ariel’s wrist, yanking her around. Then, with her other hand raised, Nancy aimed to slap Ariel’s face.

Chad, standing beside Ariel, hardened his expression when he realized what Nancy was about to do.

He raised a hand to block Nancy and shoved her away with force. His eyes gleamed coldly. “Resorting to violence now? If you couldn’t face the consequences, you shouldn’t have done what you did. Don’t blame others for your mess.

“Nancy Stanton, you’re pathetic and ridiculous!”

Nancy nearly stumbled back from Chad’s shove. But rage consume her, overriding any sense of calm or reason.

“Isn’t she the one who’s being cunning and vicious? Ariel, are you hot afraid of divine punishment?” Nancy clenched her fists, seething as she watched everything collapse around her.

Bit by bit, Ariel had destroyed her and Sarah.

Ariel fized her gaze on Nancy, who had lost her composure. The only word that came to mind to describe her was unreasonable.

“In that case, is everything happening to you and your mother now divine punishment?” Ariel asked with a stony look.” Congratulations, you two have lost everything now.”

Nancy’s face was drained of color.

Without waiting for a reply, Ariel turned and walked away.

Tom greeted Jayson as he passed. “Mr. Larkin, I guess I’ll-
