After Nancy arrived at Yeager Group’s building, someone showed her the way to the higher floors.
Samson’s office was located on one of the top floors. Just as Nancy entered the room with her résumé in her hand, Samson happened to look up.
His eyes narrowed slightly. Then, Samson gestured to an empty seat. “Please have a seat, Ms. Stanton.”
Nancy didn’t notice anything out of the ordinary in his expression she smoothed down her skirt and sat on the chair. “Mr. Pryce, I’ll get straight to the point. I’ve come to see you today because I’m very interested in what you guys do at the Yeager Group. I would like to join the Yeager Group.”
Samson signaled to his subordinate to prepare some tea for Nancy with a light wave of his hand. He chuckled when he heard what Nancy said. “What do you mean by that, Ms. Stanton?”
Nancy slid her résumé toward Samson. “That’s my résumé. I was hoping I could perhaps secure a position here if you think I’m a good fit for the company.”
Actually, Samson knew quite a bit about what had happened recently, especially since Ariel was concerned.
For instance, the incident during Sarah’s art exhibition and the rumors about how Veyo Solutions now had a new boss.
Moreover, Nancy had suddenly shown up here to submit her résumé.
It seemed like the rumors
“““““1 201’t baseless.

“Did Mr. Larkin not make any arrangements for you?” Samson’s brows arched as he tapped on her resume.
Nancy remained calm and composed. “It’s my career we’re talking about. I have my own plans and arrangements. Jayson’s done everything in his power to help me settle everything else.
“I’ve chosen to come here because I know how competent you are. Mr. Pryce. I’m sure we’ll be able to work well together if I’m given the opportunity to work at the Yeager Group.”
Moreover, considering how Samson appeared to be…
Nancy had a subtle knowing look in her eyes. However, she tried her best not to let it show.
Honestly, she was quite glad that she had socialized extensively and formed numerous connections after returning from abroad.
Samson gave a little shrug. The corners of his mouth turned up. “Atually, there’s one thing I’m really curious about.”
Samson directed his gaze to Nancy. “You keep acting as if I’ll definitely do you the favor and make an exception for you. Do you mind correcting me if I’ve gotten the wrong idea, Ms. Stanton? Or perhaps do you have some sort of misunderstanding… like I’m interested in you?”
Nancy froze.
A misunderstanding? What did she misunderstand?
For a moment, Nancy was at a loss for words upon witnessing Sanson’s attitude. His response was quite different from what she had expected to see,
Samson had a dawning realization the instant he saw Nancy’s reacion. He had a smile on his face. Yet, his words were merciless.
“Regardless of what it is, I suppose I should make myself clear. I have no special feelings for you, Ms. Stanton. I hope you won’t have any misunderstanding about that. I’m afraid I’ll be troubled if you do.”
His words were blunt and direct. 2
Nancy’s expression hardened. She felt as if she had just been slapped on the face. Nancy had never felt so awkward and embarrassed before.

Still, Samson had no intention of beating around the bush. He never cared about hurting others‘ pride, especially when they were people he disliked. He was already very experienced in rejecting these people’s advances.
Moreover, Samson was very observant and perceptive. During the previous incidents, Nancy would somehow behave quite confidently around him. She even came seeking his help after the test incident.
Samson had an inkling of what Nancy was probably thinking almost instantly.
“Mr. Pryce… You’re overthinking it.” Nancy tried to maintain steady breathing and a neutral expression. Inwardly, she was
shocked.
